My suggestion is a 60cc. In whichever color suits you. If they still made em, I would be suggesting Makita 6100 specifically.

Kinda why I suggested a ms400 basically the weight of the 59cc 362 but a fair bit more power at 67cc. They’ve also been very reliable overall.

It should be. I have mostly what folks around here call house logs. Days I almost feel bad, then I get some Benjamin’s.

Crooked wood sure does slow things down.

As a former owner of one, I wouldn’t… It’s heavy for its CC, it doesn’t port as well as other saws this size. He’s literally looking for a 1 saw plan which is kinda tough in today’s market given the offerings. 8-9 and 14-15 inch wood screams the lightest ported saw in the 50cc class. If the majority of what he is cutting is 8-9 you will never load the saw (new) and it will be bouncing off the rev limiter and he will hate operating it.

On edit, I actually have the saw that fits this bill with heat, but it ain’t a Stihl…

You mean the new to be out next year ms400.1 that’s 10 oz lighter than current 400 has more torque and basically the same hp as current one plus will have heated handles if a person wants. But probably not here in the states. At 10 oz lighter it’s got to be damm near 50cc saw weight but 63cc. And yes ported 346’s are awesome.

No actually a ported 357XPG, Stihl has never offered anything it the particular space he is looking for. I will say the that the OE 346XP is the single saw that fits what he is looking for except those darn variables…..

I know you’re not talking about a Stihl your pretty much anything but Stihl and I know that and obviously I’m pretty much all Stihl but do have a 357xp I’m going to fix up and port for myself.

I cannot deny their popularity and prolificity. Ironclad brand ruined me when they first hit the scene. You mean I can have on gloves and still have fairly dexterous hands?? Yeah, I signed up. Most would be staggered by the eclectec collection I have ammassed over the past two decades working for a place that buys gloves from a dozen different wholesalers. I have access to ALL that, but I choose to wear these as my 'chore gloves' now....

I go to the slightly thicker latex coated versions for splitting and wood handling. Have the insulated version as well. Used them last night to deliver a load of wood matter of fact. Don't get me wrong, when I need leather I wear leather. I tend to put on the lightest thing I can get away with though.

This should be a yearly thread. I always find a new glove to try when this topic comes up. Very cool everyone!

I've been using these White Ox gloves for about 8 years now; I found out about them from Scott of Essential Craftsman YT fame. USA made, very tough, very durable.[IMG]
