The Timberwolf name is reliable. I’ve been very happy with mine, but if I was in the market for something in that price range you’re mentioning, I think I’d be looking for a supersplit to try. Just my 2 cents

I agree. Their machines today even look a lot different than the generation machines you’re mentioning.

Thinking about buying a used 21 ton electric splitter instead.

I just got mine fired up tonight...just long enough to split up 3-4 cherry logs, but I think ima gone like it!
If you have power near where you split most of the time, go for it!

I asked my friend this afternoon about running a cord from his house and he had no outlet in front BUT one in the garage. I like the lower noise out of respect to it being their house although they have no probelm with me using the gas hydro when they are home.

How much quieter and faster is it vs a gas hydro Dave? I love my little electric one for bundle wood.

Speed is pretty much determined by the pump and cylinder size, not the motor type...in my case I was going for something in the sub 9 second out n back (full stroke) range, which at 8.8 seconds, I met that goal.
As far as noise, all you hear is the whine of the pump, which can't even be heard with the engine running on a gasser...so less than that for sure, but its not silent...quiet enough that you could talk to someone while splitting without yelling "huh, what?" all the time.

    Its 240V?
    A 20 ton (+) machine will have a 240V motor on it I'm sure...

He said Bearcat electric splitter but after watching the video i see "Echo" Bearcat written on the side. I tried looking it up last week and found very little on the electric ones.

X2...that whole Echo line doesn't look like it would be much more of a "pro" splitter than what you have...certainly not enough so to justify $2k...to the seller I say, "good luck buddy!" :picard:

Good splitters don't come cheap! Paid $4000 for the Beaver in 1984 !!!! The frame has been bullet proof. It's on its third set of tires, ram and Honda. I used to lend it out to charity wood cuts and have seen it split a cord in one hour. Being highway legal was a important feature!

Electric , Like mentioned what about power for it. I would venture to guess if it has any sort of grunt it is going to be 220 volt.
This is also not actually portable either. Can't haul it to a score or use it anywhere else. You are tied down by a cord , and a long heavy duty one at that. Not some .99 cent , 14 gauge cord from the local dollar store.

If you were going to set it up at your house more or less permanent than " maybe" ; but at someone elses house plugging into their power to me isn't the way to go.
What about the electric bill that goes with it ?

Personally,I think gas hydro would be the way to go in your situation.
