These two sure do get along great. I had them outside in the snow and they ran around and chased each other.

John, the guy that fostered Timber for 2 weeks, stopped out to see her again today. He's really happy that she's happy.

Also, Timber let me trim her nails today.

I was super careful and only trimmed the tiniest amount. I didn't want to get the quick at all.

Danielle took Timber on a walk today in town. 5 miles, she did great, only just a little sniffing and bathroom breaks slowing Danielle down from her typical near daily walk.

IMG_20230303_222028462.jpg Monday will be 3 weeks since we got Timber. She's doing excellent. Her and Hayden get along great. I can't wait until they both can run and play in the yard. They play inside the house, but it's not the same.

Timber does have some slight aggression with some other dogs. It's the cur in her. Just being protective. Not all but some dogs get her to react this way. Danielle has taken her on many of her near daily walks and she's seen a few times where she needs to alter her walking path. She pulls when this happens. We'll work on it. We have a spay date in early May for her. Her being in tact might be why. We have had to feed the two dogs separately, but this is getting better and we are now feeding them in the same room. She has no issues with humans being in her business when it's feeding time. She whines a tiny amount when we leave, but she's quickly over that.

Other than these little things, that I can see improvement on most of these already, she's really an excellent dog. She was getting a little too much food in Foster Care, but not bad, we're weaning both dogs down in amount of food.
Hayden getting fixed means he'll need less food than before so he doesn't gain much weight post surgery, and she could be just a little thinner. We'll get them both on the same food eventually.

It's really nice having two dogs again. They keep each other company.

Glad she is fitting in with the family so well. It is tough to know why some issues exist when you have gotten a "used" pup. Who knows, maybe those dogs she reacts to reminds her in some way of an azz-hole dog in her past. it will be good when you get her spayed and Hayden neutered - cuts down on tensions that exist.

Food protectiveness can be worked with, although I had a 7 YO dobie (from a bad background) that never got past it. Cats and humans were fine, but not other dogs - even the 8 week old puppies that we got later. Since Timber is good with humans, that is the most important thing. Most of my interaction with any dog's food was actually adding things, not taking away, so if I HAD to take something away, it was a non-issue to them. They would always back away from their bowls on command without a fuss. Some would be more gracious about stuff already in their mouth (spitting out stuff on command versus my digging a bone out of their mouth), but there wasn't any drama.
