Yes, Prentiss and Carlisle. The trail mulching company is Ground Perfection Specialists, Jeremy Guerrette from Hampden, ever heard of him?
I’ve heard of him. Don’t know him. I think he used to run the business under a different name or was associated with that business. Either way that one is gone.
Our logging crew would not allow "civilians" into the running harvester ; insurance regs. Big signs to stay > 500' from a working harvester. There were many hydraulic leaks with the machines over a month of work. The guys were always P-ed off since all the lines were black, no color coding to trace leaks. So Dave got to ride the beast !
I didn't ask, maybe next time I was following his trail, made a big arc around him until I made eye contact and he waved. A few minutes later he shut the machine down and yelled to me to come over. I thought I was about to get a lecture about not getting too close but instead he just introduced himself and offered up to let me ride along. It's surprisingly not that loud in the cab which he said is pretty much crush proof and has bullet proof glass. Told me a story about how he rolled the forwarder bed and the cab almost went with it in his first week, no big deal, the harvester just unloaded him and pushed the bed back over.
Dave gets the gold stars on his forehead for riding the beast. No "horn" on Finnish harvesters. Sorry Dave. Stihl can't see or find any boundary markers.
Twas on my afternoon constitutional with the Hounds in tow, I dont think he saw me either...maybe next time and I'll be sure to ask about the horn. Forwarder was broken all week.
No horn on harvesters Dave. No need in woodlands. " If a tree falls in the forest, would a woman hear it ? "
Some vids of the harvester from the outside. It's difficult to get good video and make sure I stay out of the way esp when I have the Hounds with me. Property line flag from video
This is all still my neighbors land, I'm guessing it will take them another few days with the harvester before they start on mine...probably be 2-3 weeks on my land.
G2 shows you on MDI/Acadia. Busy place to do a harvest. Does the Park have any say in the cutting even though it's off their boundary ? There is a thick book about the Park transportation regs for next year if you're interested. The first stage trial for Cadillac regs begins in October.
Not sure why you are so interested in the location?...not on MDI and following all of the rules and regs is up to the harvesting company I can direct them as to the cutting on my land but so far from what I'm seeing on my neighbors land it looks like they do a pretty good job.
