pretty nice rig -defies the laws of gravity. Thats ok though, I just stood on the wall to watch it. I wonder if SS had patents that ran out or perhaps some sort of lic arrangement. Not that chi-com pays any attention to patents anyway.

That splitter is taking care of that wood no problem:axe:
I split all my wood for a few years with a 7 ton hydraulic.
Turn the phone horizontal for taking pictures and video :)
Looks like you got it up on a stand or something right?
    How long are the rounds?

That is the best video I have seen of timber champ. That thing does a really good job, even on the larger rounds. It sure gets the job done for 7 tons.

If you go on youtube to the creator studio, then video manager, edit, enhancements, you can rotate the video under enhancements.

The rounds are 15-19+" long . I bucked all this wood I'm splitting @88" as I was burning 22" wood.
I can fit 19 3/4" between the rack face and the wedge. Perhaps next year Ill get a Super Split or Dr or similar that will take 24" wood. So I can go back to burning up to 24" wood.
But, in the mean time , I sure do enjoy The Champ . I got home on time from work today so I went out and did some bucking and splitting.
I had an ulterior motive however.
I sharpened up the tips of my new Husqvarna 12" hand tongs and needed some reason to try them out. ;-). They work GREAT . Anyone on the fence about getting a set of hand tongs. I highly recommend them .

That is impressive! In your opinion, how long do you believe the unit will last? I may very well upgrade.

I think the design is very sound. Personally, I think it will come down to a parts availability question. Unless there is some kind of weirdness like 1 part costing 1/2 the price of the machine's new cost.
The rack and pinion gear is really the wear items. Then the drive belt and the rollers. Last but not least is the motor.
I haven't taken the guard shrouds off to examine the flywheels and things. It's just a Very basic way to develop pushing force and speed.
Individual metalurgic situations could be a problem. If they are problematic. I know last year some of them had problems with the pinion gear. But the company really came thru for the purchasers that had a problem.
For $452. I'm sure liking it's performance. And, it is doing what I needed it to. Keep me filling my shed while working a full time job. With another 2 full pick up loads of wood. 20171104_142549.jpg
I should be good for this winter.

As to the tongs. I'm thinking I will get an 8" . The 12" tongs work awesome down to 8" diameter , ok to 6" and not that well @4" . since I have plenty of 8-3" diameter wood. I think the 8" tongs would be a handy addition.

If you start the recording with the phone in one direction and rotate the phone, it keeps the starting orientation.
Nice little splitter though; it does quite the job.

This is what I ended up getting and using for picking up splits and smaller stuff, no bending over for me with this 17in tool, I really like it for that use, I'm only 5ft 3in so if you're taller you might want to get a 2ft.
See first page here, there is a link to where I purchased it
Found a new tool on the porch

Any updates on the Timber Champ, Cold Trigger Finger?

I'm thinking about an electric kinetic splitter, and this seems like one of the better cheap options.
