Wow ,schlot , that's terrible. May God be with your friends family and you. Praying for Comfort and Peace .
An update on our friends. Both are still in icu. Darlene had a drain that should be removed tomorrow then she will be moved out of icu. She is healing quickly . Praise God! Tammy was treated for a torn artery and now has to be treated for many broken bones. Please pray for Darlene's husband and travel mercies for the families also.
Update on self. In 11 more days it will be 3 months since the surgery. I saw the surgeon 2 weeks ago and he said to figure 2 more months to recuperate. That sucks. I am still anemic. Legs are like rubber and still getting cramps. Stomach is bothering a lot. Had CT scan earlier this week and doctor says it shows improvement but, it could be a couple hernias that are giving me some problems. Nasty, as I get some sharp pains near the scar and by the liver. What I don't know yet is if the hernias he spoke about are new ones or old ones. Hope to get in to see him next week again or at least talk to his nurse. Would be better yet if he was to call and he has called in the past. In the meantime, it is not helping that I've been unable to do much of anything. For a month following surgery I could barely eat and lost over 20 lbs. I've gained that back as around Christmas time I suddenly got hungry and still am. Needless to say, I need some exercise, like cutting wood...
Darn I'm sorry to hear that. It does suck. I don't appreciate they told you some conditions and no word on how to proceed/treatment for them.
Thanks for the update TurboDiesel! wildwest and Backwoods Savage, you two are on a continual prayer loop near the border!
No progress for my wonderful father, 1 step forward, then 2 steps back. Now add hospital borne bacteria.
Uggg. I guess patience would help, but if you're like me, I'm short on that when it comes to being sick.
Praise Be, He is infact still fighting hard and I got to talk with him on the phone tonight!!!!! Thank you friends.
Warriors of the Cross, during my 18 month recovery from the pickaroon to the leg and resulting blood clot I haven't been on here. Back on my feet and cutting again. I'll try to get up to speed on this thread and join in. Thanks for your prayers, it was a long recovery, but the Father and I had alot to talk about.
Once again, I'll welcome you back Red Elm. You were missed. btw, do you have a scar from the pickaroon?
Yes Dennis I do. Not only where the pick went in, but a zipper scar from the incision they made to do surgery to clean it all out. Scars not bad. I am very blessed in that although the recovery was long, I can tell no lasting effects. My right calf is slightly bigger than the left from the blot clot, but that is all. They consider the clot " sealed and stable". The 14 months on Xeralto and the constant walking regimine helped with a good outcome. The healing power of Jesus Christ and the power of prayer where responsible for the complete recovery. Alot of people asked if I threw that pickaroon away or retired it. No, I did not. I use a shorter one every time I work up wood. When I was a professional faller, I use to call my wife every day when I came out of the timber to let her know I was out of harm's way. Who would of guessed my worst injury would be in the log yard right next to the house. Life is funny.
Thank you brother, I GREATLY appreciate the prayers of this group. They probably had the best understanding of how serious it was. The surgeon told me later he was VERY concerned I could lose my leg from blood poisoning like Gus on Lonesome dove bc the pickaroon had been in dirty logs.
Things are looking up, Thank You Friends! He gets sprung from the pen (hospital lol) this afternoon and being moved to a rehab I looked at pics on the internet and it looks very nice (newer facility too). His wife took extra measures to ensure the right place had good performance ratings and also close to home.
