Update on Homicide Investigation

On the evening of June 19, 2026, at approximately 9:45 p.m., Washington County 911 received a report that a female had been shot at a residence on Hagan Circle, located outside of Tennille.

Deputies responded to the scene and discovered the victim, LuVenya Knight, 15, of Irwinton, lying unconscious and not breathing inside the residence. Deputies and emergency personnel immediately attempted life-saving measures; however, those efforts were unsuccessful. Ms. Knight was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The suspect, Kermarion Markel Washington, 22, of Tennille, was taken into custody by deputies shortly after the incident and was subsequently arrested. Washington is currently being held at the Washington County Jail pending a bond hearing in Washington County Superior Court.

The investigation remains active and ongoing. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is being assisted by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Washington has been charged with the following offenses:

* Aggravated Assault
* Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
* Felony Murder
* Malice Murder
* Child Molestation
* Statutory Rape

Additional charges may be forthcoming as the investigation continues.

 

So sad

 

As more info comes out, seems the girl was an acquaintance of the 22 yr old, spent the night at his house, things happened and she said she was going to report him, then he shot her...
Where was her parent???

Not being racist, just more CD behavior. Still so sad...
