Life is like an apple, juicy to the core.
If you give it all you’ve got, you’ll always yearn for more.
Even though you meet a worm, every now and then.
There’s sure to be another friend just around the bend.
So, optimistic you must be, to make life really bright.
So pick yourself an apple and take a nice big juicy bite.

Today a peacock, tomorrow a feather duster.

A philosopher, being asked whether life is worth living, responded, “That depends on the liver.”

You can’t postpone the inevitable forever.

Be very careful and you will save many men from the sin of robbing you.

    The spotlight
    By Pastor Matt Ewart
John the Baptist had the important job of clearing the way for Jesus. To drive home the importance of repentance, he regularly made use of something called Baptism (thus his name). People flocked to see this unusual yet authoritative prophet who defied mainstream teaching methods.

But one day someone stole his popularity. Someone else set up shop down the river in a better location and began to employ his trademark Baptism techniques.

    That someone was Jesus.

John’s disciples got quite upset that the crowds were now going to Jesus, so they alerted John to this troubling news. Here’s how John responded: “A person can receive only what is given them from heaven” (John 3:27).

Translation: God gave John time in the spotlight, and it served a good purpose. Now God was giving that spotlight to Jesus for an even better purpose.

While it was tough for him to lose popularity, John recognized that God’s plan required him to take second place. Jesus had to become greater. John had to become lesser.

You naturally want to react like John’s disciples did. You want to protest when God decides to take the spotlight away from you. But remember that it’s always a good thing when God shines the spotlight on himself. No matter how popular or unpopular you become in the world, what really matters is that Jesus forgave you to make you God’s child.

Let him adjust the spotlight to testify best to that truth.

When you lose God, it is not God that is lost.

Did you hear about the poetic birdwatcher who took a tern for the verse?

One of the most useless moves in history was one of General Custer’s men getting a haircut the day before the Battle of Little Big Horn.

An Alaskan American Express Card ad says you should never leave Nome without it.

If it’s free, it’s advice; if you pay for it, it’s counseling; if you can use either, it’s a miracle.

The secret of longevity is to not do anything to shorten your life.

I've often wondered. Can fat people go skinny dipping?

Written by a good friend of mine...

Thank God --- Written by DeeDee Cooper
    I awoke this morning
    Thanked God for my day
For the blessings He gives me
For the price that He paid.
    When you truly have
    The Lord in your heart
    His presence is there
And has been from the start...
    He’ll never forsake you
    Asks not much in reply
    Wants for you to remember
    The reason He died.
    He died on the cross
    Asks not much in return
    He took up the cross
    And His crown made of thorns;
    He is very alive
in our hearts And our minds
    His love is forever
    A one of a kind...
So as you get up tomorrow
    Thank God for your day
    Ask for His forgiveness
And in your heart He will stay.

Do cemetery workers ever work the graveyard shift?

Do hungry crows have ravenous appetites?

Isn’t it a bit unnerving that doctors call what they do “practice?”

If you are cross-eyed and dyslexic, can you read all right?

Too many newspapers dispose of their garbage by printing it.

As we acquire more knowledge, things do not become more comprehensible, but more mysterious.

The tragedy of life is what dies inside a man while he lives.

God put me on Earth to accomplish a certain number of things. Right now I’m so far behind I may live forever.

Growing old is mandatory; growing up is optional.

Whenever you begin to think about exercise, lie down until the thought goes away.

I finally got my head together; now my body is falling apart.

The older you get, the tougher it is to lose weight. That’s because by then your body and your fat have become very good friends.

Sometimes I think I understand things, but then I usually regain consciousness.

Taxation WITH representation isn’t so good neither.
