When the calf is stolen, the farmer mends the stall.

A big target is soonest hit.

All men do not admire and love the same objects.

    Everyone to his own taste.

One man’s meat is another’s poison.

    Lying pays no tax.

There is no remedy for death and taxes.

The great secret of life is to hear lessons, and not to teach them.

Teaching should be full of ideas, not stuffed with facts.

To know how to suggest is the art of teaching.

To teach another is to learn yourself.

Tears are the silent language of grief.

More tears are shed in playhouses than in churches.

Man is the weeping and laughing animal born to govern all the rest.

Tears are the natural penalties of pleasure.

Shed tears boldly: weeping is nature’s mark to know an honest heart by.

Tears hinder sorrow from becoming despair.

The smiles of a pretty woman are the tears of the purse.

Hot things, sharp things, sweet things, cold things, all rot the teeth.

Candy is dandy, but sex won’t rot your teeth.

"Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior." — Habakkuk 3:17-18

Our job is not to understand the tough moments or seasons, but to trust God. His ways are higher than our ways.

Better face a danger once than always be in fear.

No fish without bones; no woman without a temper.

We can resist everything except temptation.

Temptations, like misfortunes, are sent to test our moral strength.

Great possessions and great want of them are both strong temptations.

No man has learned the art of life until he has been well tempted.

The proof of gold is fire; the proof of woman, gold; the proof of man, a woman.

You can’t put thanks in your pocket.

Those who dare to think by themselves can make others think with them.

The profound thinker always suspects that he is superficial.

Look, I know some of you are scared. I understand. If this is the case though...how's about either *not going to work or *waiting until the roads have been cleaned to leave? Driving 10mph in conditions that most will drive 40 in is endangering the rest of us. Thanks.

Thinkers are as scarce as gold.

There are 2 classes of thinkers; the shallow who fall short of the truth and the abstruse who go beyond it.

There is no small pleasure in pure water.

It is wretched business to be digging a well just as thirst is mastering you.
