Just finishing splitting up second load of White Pine from trees down in the driveway. This will be next years kindling and shoulder season wood. Next get this red oak on the ground .
Got those same gloves. Came in packs of half a dozen or so. Cheap enough that if/when they get coated with pitch just throw them out at the end of the day. I sometimes leave the branches piled up somewhere for 6 or 9 months till they are brittle then smash 'em with a sledge hammer repeatedly for even more kindling.
You just can't beat that kind of wood for getting a fire going in short order and some quick heat in the mornings! I don't have much pine, but do the same with Aspen or Hemlock...
I just cut up part of a big pine top that blew down and threw it in the woods to let the pitch harden, way too much to deal with right now. I have a white oak in the exact same position 75 yards into the woods too.
Yup harbor freight great for pine usem and loosem. I chip up all the branches for my walking trails helps keep the pepperbush in control.
Those gloves are great. I used to buy them in bulk on Ebay back in the day for work. Sometimes they would last me a week, sometimes I would go through several pairs in a day, so as cheap as possible was what was needed. I still have about a dozen pairs left 10 years later since changing professions
Nice. We had some pines taken down two years ago. It's been split and seasoning since. I split some kindling from the spits this past summer. Boy, do they light up nice and quick. Should help with getting the weekend house warmed up on a Friday evening. And after two years, the pine splits take off nice and quick.
