Split the rest of the TP and the cherry from Saturday. Cherry topped off a half cord stack. IMG_2682.JPG IMG_2683.JPG Some TP added to the SS stack. Besides TP there's red maple, TOH, and sassafras. IMG_2685.JPG Room for more rounds at storage.

Drove by the area Monday and three crews working. Opted to go today and found this cherry. Turns out it was cut just this morning. English ivy the only drawback otherwise some nice wood. Isocore was halving bigger rounds with one swing. Nice straight grain IMG_2692.JPG IMG_2693.JPG IMG_2694.JPG IMG_2695.JPG Dropped rounds on pavement to evict the ants. IMG_2696.JPG Asplundh log truck shows up just as i finished bucking. Shot the chit with him for a while. He's the one who told me how fresh the wood was. I couldnt have timed it any better. He was there to take it. IMG_2697.JPG Biggest load of cherry ive ever had on the PU. Dropped one log off at the miller. IMG_2698.JPG IMG_2699.JPG IMG_2700.JPG IMG_2702.JPG
Ive done very well scoring wood from their work in this neighborhood. With the log truck on the spot that soon, im wondering if there will be more for the taking. He took all the other remnants.
With this load combined with other loads from two earlier threads it makes eleven load ive scored in the area from their cutting.

Was it the crew member that helped you get that log on your truck?

LOL!!! No. Not thinking with firewood on the brain i realized as i was cutting one of the first logs mill fodder. Luckily that was the ant log. I set aside a straight one to load last. When i arrive at a cut i can usually figure if there's enough wood to fill the truck. The guy said to take it all as he didnt wanna come back. I joked with him that he was too late when he pulled up. Im wondering about the neat pile of vines i left behind.

He brings loads to Milford, but also mentioned he brings logs to a sawmill and gets paid by them. A little side gig he said. Guess he was a tad pizzed about the cherry as it was nice mill fodder. Cool guy and very knowledgable on trees and chain saw work. I enjoyed talking with him about such. Actually learned a thing of two. Asplundh has 4-5 log trucks for the state and he is HQed at BJ's in North Haven.

Nice Brad! Cool you got to chat with him.

Have you seen the machinery they’re using on 91 north by exit 19ish? Some big green stuff to take down trees.

Random note: There’s a place by Laskara in Wallingford where they have some pretty big rounds. I think they grind them up. I believe my neighbor got some freebies from them once just by asking.

Havent gone that far up 91 in a while. Maybe using a feller, buncher?

Im familiar with Laskara, but havent gone that way in ages. Back in 2004 my late mother was at Gaylord so i drove by there almost daily.

It’s pretty unique equipment; all green with large booms. They almost look European. They had a similar group on 84 a few months ago.

I’ll chat with my neighbor next time I see him and see if I can get some details.

Thanks Jeff! :handshake:Yeah the four cords of racks at my place mostly filled up from this source. All bundle wood for 9-12 months from now. With my random scores it sometimes worries me about having a mix on hand.
Just finished this stack behind the shed. 2 1/4 cords. triple row stack 6'x12' IMG_2714.JPG
Working on this stack behind the house that holds 1 3/4 cords. Tulip poplar stacked with MOTS with cherry, maples (sugar, Norway, red) and box elder in the pile. Old splits in the back. Thinking i have enough rounds to process yet to fill this. IMG_2719.JPG
I mostly sore bundle quality wood at home where i do assembly. There is a cord of "B" grade splits by the shed for next Winter. The BL nugget bin starting to fill up. Have a bunch at storage to bring in yet.
Besides hoarding im always moving firewood. IMG_2715.JPG IMG_2716.JPG
