It's hard to fault silver maple when it dries so quickly.

Envision in your minds everyone the club scene in T1 where Arnold and his shotgun were looking for Sarah Conner. Fun 80’s music quickly turned to death music. Other objects being pushed and thrown aside in the quest for glory. Now replace Arnold for Brad, shotgun for chainsaw, and Sarah for Black Locust. Same intense stare, same gritty determination to complete the task. In fact, I’ll bet ole’ Brad has thought of that scene when driving down the road looking for them.

Could also go for the gun store scene. I’ll take the 261 with a 16” bar.. A 462 with 25” bar..... and a xt4000 plasma Locust blaster with laser sighting. Hey just what you see pal.

    Good score Brad.

Silver maple seasons in about 8-10 months for me. Gets light pretty quick so it’s not good to sit on it for long. It does burn just fine and doesn’t leave hateful amt of ash.

I love silver maple. It’s considered really good firewood around these parts. I take all I can get.

Split it. Stack it. Burn it.

Well they are still upin the air if they are giving any of this away. She did ask me to take the big logs next to the driveway. I stopped yesterday and tried to half one with the X27 (the isocore is "lost" at another score) and no go. Brought the sledge and wedge today and busted six of them up easily. 20 minutes to quarter and load. As much as my back hates big rounds they do fill the truck quickly. IMG_3524.JPG IMG_3525.JPG IMG_3526.JPG
I was going to split as i unloaded but they were mostly cut 18-20" IMG_3527.JPG A couple were 17" which i split. I stacked them all to be bucked to 16"...maybe tomorrow if the rain stops. As convenient as it is to have scores prebucked, id just assume cut it myself. Maple cookies anyone?

T2 is my all-time fave action film. Die Hard is not too far behind.

It was on last night and i caught the last third of it. Die Hard my favorite too. Never saw "dark Fate" yet as John Conner was killed off so ruined it IMO.

Rained here yesterday but stopped by noon. We were eating at 3 and sitting around was getting to me. Fired up the 028 and bucked the quarters to 16". Ate, cleaned up, then went back out and split most of them. Bucked the logs from last weekends score too. IMG_3528.JPG
    Maple cookies anyone? IMG_3529.JPG
Mound of splits. A few maple quarters left ill split today. IMG_3530.JPG

Pulled a PU full out today. Used the log blaster to quarter/half them to load. Kinda wish i hadnt taken this as the lengths are off. Maybe 20% cut to +/- 16" IMG_3542.JPG IMG_3543.JPG

Grabbed another load yesterday. Sledge and wedge to manageable sizes to load. IMG_3611.JPG IMG_3610.JPG Been a while since ive handled wood this big. My back hated it! IMG_3608.JPG Poor tree guys hit this when cutting the stump off. The stump was 54" x 32" IMG_3606.JPG IMG_3606.JPG Still four big rounds plus two stump cut offs to get.

Split a few. Straight grain. Some had wavy grain, not much though.

Wavy. That's what I meant when I said twisty! Glad they were pretty easy. I split that red - I mean sugar - I mean red - maple today and it was pretty darn twisty.
