Thanks Eric! I still enjoy it. I do what I can for as long as I can. No need for me to push it. My wood is for our woodstove. Not making firewood to sell, like many others.
Day 3 of wooding. Moving splits and making more. Rack full! I took it to just before the "wobble" factor was a concern. And dated Bed covers applied for a 3-yr nap. I kept splitting until I decided some noodling may be needed. The lighter colored wood is some of the sugar maple. That'll do for a while. Other things have my time occupied this week.
Looks great! How do you like that 'spring' maul? I'm in the same boat; did some 'firewooding' over the last few days but most likely won't get to do any more until next week (other than cleaning up the mess from splitting). Feels good to finally get those RO rounds processed (it only took me just under five years....).
Good eyes! That's a Chopper 1. It does have metal "wings" that swing out to facilitate the splitting. I had it out as it's heavier than the x27, and I wanted to blow through a k-notty bit. It's too heavy for me to use regularly. I see no advantage the spring wings provide. I'm sure you are pleased to get those rounds "launched".
