Had a minor casualty. It was upright before the storm. It was a temporary rack. Little did I know how temporary. Time to lift things up and put them down. Got out the 2 wheeler. Moved splits from here To here. Another temp rack. I got the fallen rack out of the way. Wash, rinse, repeat as necessary. Other than losing power for a few hours, no property issues.
So the new stack will be more wind resistant? We didnt lose power, but some fierce wind with lots of sticks and twigs in the yard. Took a short walk in my woods and nothing new down. Saw some big blowovers in my travels yesterday.
I try to make the stacks Mike-proof. I still need to call for quotes on the 4 ash trees that need to come down. One is right where I'd like to put more long-term racks.
In weather like this, that grounded rack means a little exercise! It was a quite a blow here too. Unfortunately we never lost power. The ash trees EAB kills Mike?
The thickest trunk might be 18 inch diameter. Done in by EAB. Lots of ash trees look dead in the area. I suppose we're lucky to have them last this long. I hope to turn them into firewood. A couple of cords worth, maybe.
Nice! Maybe when the wood is down and cut, a splitting party should be had. I'll volunteer for that as well as to bring food to munch on . . . As long as there are no pieces of elm slipped in there . . .
It's at the back of the woodyard. My "processing area" is wherever logs and rounds end up getting placed.
Mike if it makes ya feel any better LOL That was one heck of a blow. I almost reserved a room in Kansas just in case that’s where I landed
All picked up and restacked elsewhere. Some, onto the elm rounds. One of the ash trees is right to the left of that area. The tree on the right. Sane tree. The thinnest of the four. One closest to the house. The thickest of the 4. The other 2 are between these 2.
I think we had the same windstorm a couple days before you guys back east did. It provided me with another nice ash and remnants are currently in the back of my truck ready to head for the splitting are. As has been said before, "God will provide." I still gotta run the saw and the maul. Have a great day, folks
