Before I retired in 2015 I had a 3/4 ton truck , 10mpg with a strong tailwind . Gas was getting up there and the truck was ridiculous on gas mileage . Went car shopping for something I could use to drive back and forth to work .
Bought a 2014 new Volt . That was the best car I’ve ever owned . Sold it last year as I really didn’t need 2 vehicles and bought a a new 2020 3/4 ton with a 6.6 liter gas . Get 20 mpg on highway . I’ll say this , these auto companies have really stepped up the design and engineering. Of course I now have a 35 gallon tank and at $4.39 it takes a chunk of money to fill it .

A few years back we got rid of the Ford Super Duty 250 (10 or 11 mpg) for a new Silverado LD. Around our area it gets 20 to 23 mpg depending how you drive and it's a better riding truck.

Gas in Potsdam NY is $4.399 and the diesel here in our small town is $6.499.

Been right at $4.00 around here for a while. Less thatn the $4.30 it was a couple of months ago. Had to fill up over the weekend and paid $4.05/gal. Fortunately I don't have to fill up but every 3-4 weeks.

With a 36 gallon fuel tank the pump shuts off at 100$ And there is still room for 10 gallons.

Yup... couple of towns over from us went from 4.09 3 weeks ago to 4.46 today. And diesel... :faint:... is way over 6. I've been working part time for a school trans dept for 7 months now. It must be a horror show dealing with the fuel costs. I drive a van and have been really lucky. Because I live close to the station, my boss lets me bring it home, saving a lot of :emptywallet: I put 19.5 gals in today, of reg gas... it was the 3rd fill up this week... o_O

Gonna be an interesting year... :picard:

I burn AT LEAST 20 gallons a day. Luckily I’m reimbursed mileage so I actually can make out overall. But it sucks. I dread having to take my truck this weekend to the wife’s mothers. That is over $200 to fill. I did stop in Lincoln this afternoon and diesel was only $2.14 vs $2.34 plus everywhere else. I do get some major fuel discounts at certain stations because I’m a volume buyer and some I do a debit pay directly from my bank instead of running credit card.

It's all supply and demand, with some opportunistic gouging going on especially with heating oil. If a distributor doesn't have about a. 50c spread between on road and off road/heating oil, he's gouging his customers unless there's something I don't know. All 3 are the same product with the exception of the identifying dye to single out the state and federal (road) tax.
