Finished semi shoveling the driveway to let the black start to show. Let the sun do the rest . Nice to have longer days & heat in the sun now

Yea Pretty mild winter compared to some. Not sure what "the norm" is but was close to normal if you exclude January averaging near 40 ° April snows are normal, melts pretty fast with the longer daylight. Some years I've burned into mid May.
Was hoping it would melt off but only got to 34° today. Driveway & deck dry but forecast for more snow tonight To be Sunny & over 35° for tomorrow, might melt it away. Spring is having a hard fight getting started here with near 20° at night.
When I think of Alaska I think of grizzly bears and snow. Wont be long Dave. Ol man winter always has a few tricks up his sleeve...
We've got both, when snowy down here in the valleys, the bears are up in the hills hiding under it. Snow will start melting & bears should be coming out, soon I hope
There was no sun here today. My driveway is all snow. I shoveled the back patio and it's a sheet of ice now.
This time of year is interesting. The snow is melting, creating a wet muddy mess, then freezing overnight. By morning, most of that water has been absorbed into the ground, and what's left forms a slight frozen crust. It's a nice system, once most of the sheets of ice are gone.
Some warm weather with rain moving in starting tomorrow, things are finally starting to look like spring up in Northern NY.
I'm happy to have fires, but I do like the break we are getting now. I have the furnace on right now to raise temps a couple of degrees.
Got to 12° last night. No new snow. Winter is not done with us here yet To be 35° & sunny so may hit 40 & melt some of the snow. Then down to low teens again tonight.
I was wondering how it was so cold in Wasilla, but looking at the weather stations online they showed about the same for Palmer. My 2 weather stations only show a low of about 28*.
I'm with ya on that one Fire. I like having 2 heating systems a lot. There was a time when we couldn't and had to burn wood to stay warm. I decided way back then that, someday, I'd like/love the whole firewood process a lot more… if I didn't HAVE to do it every single day and night, whether I was sick or injured, etc. Over the years working jobs, by the time spring made things warmer, I'd had more than enough of the "extra" work involved with firewood. I'm very thankful to enjoy the fire now… whenever I want…
