A kid I know was late for the school buss once back in the 60's. This certain time, he had thrown hi 4 buckles on and was running out to the bus with some toast in one hand, books in the other, jacket wide open. Driver was blowing the horn.

Yup, you guessed it..... those unbuckled boots snagged onto each other and he took a digger! Whole bus was laughing!!!

Nowadays that would be considered 4 buckle shaming.
We consider it a life lesson. One of MANY.

I'll bet many kids did the same but perhaps not with the same circumstances.

I don't have anything to add, but I have enjoyed this very much. So many things I haven't thought of in years. Hard to believe that probably well over half of the people have no idea of the things that have been discussed.

And for sure some things we wish to forget; like that little shack out back where one could usually find and old Sears and Roebuck catalog.

Well, Sears eventually left Roebuck in the dust and now it seems Sears too will be left in the dust.

I had a mole on my nose as a kid, I was saving to get it removed by my teens. While sledding someone with those boots crashed into me, luckily my nose was not broke, the mole was removed for free....

Don't know. If cotton seed oil is made from pressing cotton seed, what do they press when making baby oil?

If you've been using that wallet to hoard bitterness and resentment it could be.

Am I the only kid that made his own stilts? I doubt it but remember that I had a ball doing it. First, I had to go to the woods to cut a nice pole. Not too big nor not too small. Then cut a 2 x 4 and then cut that into an angle to make the steps. Then bolt the steps onto the poles. Climb up onto the porch and step onto the stilts. What fun I had as a kid and those were even perhaps the first trees that I ever cut!

When I was a kid unfortunately I was born into a poor family. Yet in some ways I was lucky too as I learned how to make fun out of many things. Even when we were visited by city kids, they even got a kick out of our toys. Like the corn cob bombs. Take a corn cob and stick 3 chicken feathers in the end and throw it. Try to make it come down on some target. Sometimes getting those feathers out of the chickens wasn't much fun though...
