What, you've never watered a tree before? If you do it right they grow so fast you won't be able to get the hose away! Jack and the beanstalk style!

When some trees are first planted, they can have supports stakes to the ground, three points around the tree. If not removed, then the tree will just absorb whatever it is that's wrapped around them. Rope, hose, wire....etc.

Mike nailed it. This came from behind an artsy fartsy house in south county where all the NYC denizens keep their second homes. Took that willow out of there to return a favor to a landscaper that hooked me up large a couple times.

I didn’t think about this. Honestly I thought someone putting a hose to the only tree out in my yard would be an attempt to kill it quicker. No evidence that this was the case.

While snowblowing around my stacks, I noticed tracks in the fresh snow.

Stoopid wabbit. It just had to "Explore" the trap, without needing any bait in it. It was released in the same area the one I released last week. About 1 mile from here.

I hope she is able to find another spot to hibernate. They can't handle the cold.

So glad to hear not everybody has phobias and gets hysterical. Black snakes and king snakes both will eat poisonous snakes.

Found this in the black Locust I got from an old tree surrounded by three story apartment buildings.
Grown deep enough in to not turn anymore, and doesn't wiggle at all

Earlier this week this was found to be the reason my grates were stuck. So it was found not in a log, but in the stove. 0109181724.jpg

No, actually about 8" of the chain with a hook was hanging out of the tree. I cut well on each side of the chain. I was going to get the chain freed from the round using the splitter, but broke the chain in the attempt. We had been using the two chunks of wood to hold tarps down on the stack. We lost track of one and someone accidentally tossed it in the stove. The other is still used on a tarp. 0105180753a.jpg

I've caught chipmunks that way. Inquisitive, They just have to check out the trap . I've been chewed out for rereleasing animals far from home. Apparently the practice is illegal in Ma. You can twist their necks, bludgeon them with blunt instrument but lordy don't aim a gun at them.

How is this for fresh cut wood?

My logger buddies through some log cut offs on my trailer that had just been felled and skidded to the landing. I came home and noodled this round because it was to heavy for an old guy like me to handle. Popped it open and 3 squirrels were mighty scared and unscathed. I tried to shoo them away and they wouldn't budge. Came back 30 min. later and one took off but the other two were still not going anywhere.

Yeah illegal to relocate a trapped animal here....if caught. I've released them with the same town. Chipmunks - I've caught over 70 of them over the past two years. I'm still astounded by that number. Those get introduced to the business end of a pellet gun, which is legal. Go figure.
