I guess it's all about perspective! All of us who can cut right behind our house, or a mile or two away, should realize how lucky we are. And to not have to cut wood at the north pole....

    .
What I've found so far is . 1 cord of green Birch weighs similar to 1 1/2 cord of fire killed White Spruce.
No, the truck doesn't squat much. That's why I drive a Ford F350.
Lord willing , my next truck will be an F450 . Then the standard load on the truck will be 2 cord. Or 3 cord on my tri axle gooseneck trailer . I worry much more about my tires than I do the trucks suspension. Tho I am planning on a set of Timbren snubbers .

My wife is very vociferous about her utter Hatred for the cold winter . Till we get the sunlight back towards the end of February. Then she really enjoys the winters !!!!

Oh wow. I was just being a smart azz....didn't know I was pretty much right!
I'm sure this sounds rediculous, and i dont mean any offense to it, but I'm amazed that people live up there.

It's been unseasonably 'cold ' here for us this week, esp this early in December. Today's high is 39 (hope you didn't spit your coffee out laughing...), and it's been breezy/windy lately. The wife and I were in the big town Wed, and she "commented" on the weather no less than about 20 times (being grossly conservative there). I finally told her that every time she opened her mouth to complain about the temps/weather, she was letting warm/hot air out of her body that had to be replaced with cold. It actually paused/slowed down her bitch-ing...for a few minutes....

Yes . Our place is 12 miles from thriving downtown Delta Junction .
In what is known as Deltana .
It's in the Middle Tanana River valley.

I’ve been through there a couple times. Seems like a place I could hang my hat for an extended period of time.

We like it. I've lived and worked from Portland Canal to Nuiqsut and from Franklin Crik to out past Attu. Both oceans , all the seas both summer and winter .
I wouldn't say that Delta was the single best place in Alaska . But we like it to the point that it's home . Some things are weird about it . It's the single most I never get time to go shootin place I've ever lived in Alaska since 1978 .
Plus they Don't have a public rifle range here ! I mean , what's up with that ! Weird .
Can't walk into a store here and buy a pair of work pants . Used to be able to before covid. But, that store to advantage of that excise to shut down their clothes department. They also sell guns . But I won't buy guns there cause I can't buy Carhartts there any more . They want people to drive to Fairbanks to buy clothes . I'll buy my guns in Fairbanks also ! Same with chainsaws. Nearest Real saw shop is North Pole . And it's a good saw shop. But it's a Stihl shop . But still . It's a saw shop . There is an ICBM base here . Mostly inaccurate stupid gubmint boonedoggle.
Lots of rivers here . That's nice . Plenty of mountains . Plenty of roads and highways.
Lots of trees . Small ones. Nothing like southern coastal and Southeast Alaska . But not as many government spy cameras. No bears to speak of . At least I have yet to see a bear in the middle Tanana . That's odd also .

I think I was called “down under guns” or something close to that. Really cool gunshop in either North Pole or Fairbanks. (I’m pretty sure Fairbanks) is that still operating, it was a neat little shop. I spotted something in there that I thought I needed but didn’t want to have to deal with getting it home on the airlines. After I got home it kept gnawing at me and two weeks later I called and had it shipped “outside”
