I'm kinda leaning that way too. And a couple of those signs they sell to go with them. The price is right and it would be just enough to make a potential bad guy think twice.
We got stickers on the doors but I think the cameras that can be seen for quite aways might get them thinking and turning around?
http://s714.photobucket.com/user/Backwoods-Savage/media/IMG_0039_zpsxdstpx14.mp4.html?sort=6&o=5 I like a game camera that does not put out light. Most IR cameras are supposedly not visible but they are, albeit a faint red light. But you can buy a good game camera that will give no light when taking pictures at night and now many of them also have audio. The above short video was from last November. I was sitting about 50-60 yards in front of the camera and on the right. At about 8 seconds into the video, if looking far out and to the right you can see a deer crossing rather quickly. A short time later you will hear a shot. It is interesting watching the other deer's reactions. Then that one buck that is visible, I got another picture of him about 70 yards from where he was when I shot the other buck. He appeared to be calmed down by then too. And for what it is worth, here is that one that went running across. I had to wait until he stopped inside the woods line and had an extremely small window to shoot in but it worked. But the point is that you can mount camera where they aren't usually suspected and get good pictures. The ones with audio makes it just that much better for catching thieves.
Once you have lived thru a home break in and the feeling of violation that goes with that, you automatically become defensive. Having worked my arse off for what I have, I have absolutely no desire to have some low life scumbag(s) think that they can feel free to pick my bones. Should I be lucky enough to catch them in the middle of that nonsense again, I can assure you that I would be most happy to place a bullet between their eyes and not think twice about it afterwards. Strong reaction?...you bet. If a few more people would take the same stand, a lot of this daily nonsense we live with would no doubt stop.
Forgive my ignorance but what is the policy on private ownership of firearms in Canada? I thought that it was frowned upon.
Hand guns are a virtual no-no. Non restricted long guns (rifles and shotguns) no problem. Restricted and prohibited guns (as determined by the RCMP), including hand guns, military and tactical style long guns can be possessed with the proper license, but their use is highly restricted and controlled.
You are preachin to the choir, if they make it past Otis, they get to meet brother Sig. after which I will load them in the hearse and deliver them for free. casket included, yes I own a hearse.
Those are two of the best "jughead" avoidance systems I've seen Rotti. The camera sign is even better than dummy cams. Good idea...
Not sure which Charles Bronson movies, Death Wish, that he setup the house for the burglars. I remember that he put a swing trap with nails in the bathroom that caught one of them. That will take care of the bastards when you are not home. Just make sure the wife knows. In fact, I think I need to watch those movies again soon.
That looks so clever! I'd like one for the UPS man, Dave. He is quite nice and puts my items inside my covered porch, but the dogs get surprised and bark when they spot a man outside the living room and startle myself the lil one. Might be nice to have a warning.
