Pallet Pete please do not take my comments as an attack on your choice. It's merely my opinion and experience with Bib Box stores. To each their own.

Congrats on the purchase Pete. DHT has been earning a good reputation quickly.

Does the Kohler motor have a real choke or just a primer bulb?

Its a real choke and once I got it fired up the first time it works flawless. I like the motor quite a bit so far. I am going out in a few minutes to fire it up again from a cold start and see how it does. The temps where -1 last night so it should be a good test. The oil will be nice n cold as I left it right nest to the clock and doors to get it good and cold.

No worries buddy I have had my share of issues too but I am a big fan of HD and Lowes. Im the Echo saw nutt here and love them ( sold through home depot as well as Echo dealers ) but I would NEVER buy a homelite box saw or something like that. It is all in what you pay for these days not so much where ya go. I have had to learn the financially hard way to pay a little more for something better……

I am not offended at all my friend.

Was the main reason for selling the old the working height? Seemed like a nice little unit you had put together.

The DHT looks decent quality, and can't take it out on the company for the poor assembly at BLowe's. It's crazy that decent units go for sale sub $1k and the used ones show up for $800!

I'll be curious to hear more about the next (very) cold start.

    Best of luck.

I am sorry I forgot to take more pics today…

It fired up well and I added more hydro fluid to it then it started running great. The detent was WAY out of adjustment it works great now that its adjusted. I am annoyed that they didn't assemble it right. It was defiantly Lowes who messed up the install.

It was filled however they never manually cycled the pump to move the fluid through the lines. They should have pulled the engine start cord a few times to move fluid then topped it off again. It went down the first time I ran it and I had to top it off again…

I have sent an email and a phone message explaining how poorly they put it together so we will see what happens…..

Considering that it was at least mostly filled, that does help even more with the price.

Pete it sounds like yours cane assembled. My dgt splitter came in a solid plywood box i needed to assemble it. It was bolted down to the box all nuts and bolts double bagged and stapled to the box along with approximately 20 screws holding down the cover too the box alone. Ten times the care in packaging than my buddies speeco. I was impressed with it. Strangely almost disgusted because it took longer to unwrap than to put together!

Agree, the store selling the units does the assembly & double checking the job they do is important.

As mentioned, close the fuel shut-off before moving it around to prevent flooding. If you do flood it, close the fuel shut off & pull it until it starts then open the shut off. Normally 10-12 pulls will do it. Since there is a fuel shut off, you won't have to pull the plug to dry the cylinder.
