So..... I'm resting my back this afternoon and what do I hear? Yup - Chainsaws.

This is red oak 3 of 4 that's coming down next door.
    IMG_20171003_144102525.jpg

Red oak 4 of 4 is in the back, to the left. To the right, is the white pine that'll be coming down.

I should be asking them to cut this stuff into 16" lengths.... NO I will not! ~smile~

My property is behind the truck, though those woods.

    IMG_20171003_150452944.jpg

Tons, and tons, and tons of wood.

Midwinter - there WILL be wood left behind. 1mp can only do so much. ~smile~

Well, I suppose you can leave the pine behind. Or maybe save enough for a nice Mike-shaped box.

Mike, you should have talked to the man because he does not know how to trim the tree right. It takes no more to hold that saw next to the trunk and not leave those stems sticking out. Dang I hate wood that has been cut like that.

I'm not about how to tell another how to do their jobs. I'm just the lug next door. But, I do hear you. I'll probably be the one to trim them up, when I get back to it.

They were using a small Stihl to do the limbing, and a larger Husky to do the round-drops. Maybe, Stihl can't cut that close? ~ducking~ ~smile~

sounds like shes really stepping up her game, and will do anything necessary to fill up that oak vault.....even if it required knocking off fellow hoarders!!!

That vault is looking good, Midwinter. Is that all new wood, or, have you been consolidating from your various places around the yard?

Aside from the splitting round my saw is on, all of that has been collected since Sunday.

Temps are going up, and dew points as well for the rest of this week. So say the weather people. Gonna take it easy for a few days before getting back at it. Heading down to the Cape(Hyannis) over the weekend for several days into next week.

The back row, facing the neighbors', is birch, mostly from CL but some from the dump. All the brick-shaped oak is from the Lowell CL. There are some skinny splits in the front middle that are green oak from the dump. I've picked up all the Lowell oak from the big rounds. There were some rounds buried in sawdust that had some big grubs underneath! They were just starting the gnaw on the wood, after 2 years. IMG_20171004_8767.jpg I know you all wanted to see that.
I still have a fair amount that I haven't split yet to add to the vault, but what has really surprised me is how it all compacted.

Yeah, it's going to be too hot and sticky for hard work. Plenty of cold weather coming, and the grubs won't carry off your wood.
