The maple is a mess-know it will burn well though, that's all that matters right? image.jpg image.jpg

Yard trees can be nasty crotchety knotty crap no matter what species. Goes with the territory if you rely on tree man wood, even if you or your family grew it. Be glad it doesnt have a corkscrew grain along with the knots.

With a bit of work, that twisty maple will stack straight enough. I did one pallet for a 1/2 cord of that maple I spoke of earlier and it turned out ok. The stack passes the wife's eye test. There's at least a cord left of that particular sugar maple left in the woods, and it needs to be burnt this year. I can't let the punk get to it.

Now I just need to get more here, just a 1/2 cord at a time. I'll get my 2.5 cords here for 15/16 in May, and the next year or 2 out in Fall. Over 70 degrees is not firewood making weather IMHO.

Can't stand snakes. Spiders I can deal with but snakes and I don't agree. And at least you're getting some good wood in, even if it is a twisted knotty mess.

Now I'm a bit of a snow of what makes it to the shed,
I have a good size stack of fire pit wood : uglies , misfits, chunkies
The straighter stuff stacks better & safer ;)
