Rear mounted booms have their place. Tree guys like them because it can give them more reach when backed into a tight space. My driveway wraps around the back and without a rear grapple the guy who brings me logs wouldn’t be able to unload. He would have to put the truck where the logs need to go.

We cannot run pup trailers here except on the interstate.

For years we were not allowed a lot of weight on the interstate, but it got kind of silly and we propositioned our congressman and women to allow higher weights. It only made sense because these logging trucks were having to take roads through towns and on roads not really designed for the weight. That passed, the first state in the nation to allow such high weights on the interstates, but I have no idea if other states took up the cause.

If you watch American Loggers, you will see they haul dual trailers of enormous size, some hauling some 52 cords combined as they go down the road. This is true, but the roads are private, built by Great Northern Paper Company and so they can haul anything they want. In some places, private roads like the Golden Road are only a few hundred feet apart from a state road, simply because they could not get on the state road. Trucks also have the right of way, and a car HAS to pull over, but then again, if in a car, it really behooves a car to get over because those truckers aren't going too!

When we were kids we traversed the Golden Road at its end where two paper mills once stood to take the wood. It was like driving in a tunnel of wood, with the wood piled up perpendicular to the roadway (looking at the ends of the wood). It was piled up about 20 feet high, both sides of the road and went on for 8.6 MILES! Now that is hoarding wood!!

Thanks for the positive feedback ya'll. Didn't realize how sensitive telling folks we had firewood was especially without a price.

Not that I have to defend myself to a group of stalwart woodsmen, but I actually make a living moving saw timber and treat firewood as a bio product! And have even given it away at times.

So hey! Stop by and tell us you found us on FWH and I'll give ya a little! Lol

Smart man to say "a little"

You'd have a line of dump trailers with fhc decals on the trucks if you didn't lol

    Now you’re talkin’ our language!!!!!

You know that for chits and giggles we can’t refuse any wood and in all seriousness we wouldn’t. Consider yourself among friends since you know what you’re doing and we wouldn’t second guess you on your offer. Now we have to just be curious if you have stove pics and all that? Unless I missed that post?
