Have old shed that holds roughly 4 cords at parents acreage (only thing that keeps it from blowing over/falling down is its been full since June 2011  . Nearby there & at my place here in town I have a bunch of semi- disheveled stacks. The wood in my backyard that's driest/for this year is either tarped or top covered.

All the wood cut last winter is uncovered, though almost 2 cords of that is Silver Maple & its just about ready to burn if needed. The 2 cords of White Oak with a little Red wont be ready until 2015-16,but that's OK.

Haven't seen any ugly stacks yet
    Some look better than others,
but is there such a thing as an ugly stack of firewood ?

Best thread I've seen in awhile! It's too dark and I've had too much bourbon to go get a picture tonight, but it's nice to see some normal stacking! Who the heck has time to keep their wood cut to 16" +/- 0.001" and stacks to 90° +/- 0.001°?!!

I'll show my stacks only when I consider seppuku a viable option.

Kinda dark for pics right now. My ugly stacks are simular to what happened to BrianK , they tip over sometimes. I think because I stack 5 ft high, the drying splits move (as they shrink) as they dry and then after say 10 mos the top of the pile looks like a cresting wave at the beach. Out of 18 rows, 3 of them look like crap.

Ugly stacks dry faster. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

A Fallen Wood stack is ugly !
Falling out of a woodshed even uglier !

    Good job girls !
Glad things were put back in balance :)

    Good looking wood.
I see some real big splits in the stack,
must be for the cold overnight burn cycles.

Thistle, it appears there is part of a buzz saw there. Do you still have the saw and do you use it?

Saw frame was there when parents bought the place in May 1981.Seller was newly retired farm couple who lived about 1/8th mile south. They built the little house in 1970 for their newly married son to live in.

The saw hasn't been used since sometime in the early 70's I was told.I do have 2 blades that fit found some 20+ yrs ago (never had a blade on it since I first seen it).1 blade is hanging in garage out there a favorite late Uncle in NW Missouri got me that about 20 yrs back. The other blade I found at a local flea market in town about the same time, its on wall behind me now.
