I went down to the little valley and the garden had dried enough that I could work. So I set to task sharpening the chain on the saw. When it came time for the tree to fall, it took me by surprise and started falling before I knew it; poplar will break the hinge fairly easy; I need to remember that for the future. After I got the first one down I decided to go ahead and drop its cousin. I started to cut the notch and saw sparks; that is not good. Examination showed a nail had been driven into the tree at some time in the past. I carried the saw back to the shed and sharpened it again; my spare chains have decided to hide from me. Back down I finished the notch and dropped the tree. I did use the wedge I made this morning. I will buck them on Wednesday.
Some we are our own worst enemy sometimes ... we tend to over analyze sometimes... when if we just take it for face value and access it for what it is, the solution is right in front of us... Good job! Another one bites the dust...
This is the wedge I made this morning. Prototype is a little rough but it was fun making it. It was actually kind of neat taking a piece of wood from the property and shape it to a useful device.
Great job Kimberly , we're proud of you! Too bad about that nail, did you ever find where your spare chains hide?
I cleaned the shed up sometime last year and put them someplace. I need to clean again and find everything and make a list and nail it to the wall so when I need something I know where it is.
Looks like the trees went right were you planned! Keep up the good work and build your confidence. Maybe you could pick up some of the plastic wedges for future endeavors. Nice job.
Well done, Kimberly! Nails in the tree? That's par for the course, for me. And I can usually find them on my first cut....
