Family like you and other solid folks in his corner, a brighter future is definitely in store. Sounds like you’ve been through too, he’ll still need a rock for some time yet, but might not realize that right now. Well done Dad, they are never done being our kids. Owl
Our son had 3 trees he needed help with, so time to play with tractor and saws...... Twin stem water oak with rotted center, had been a 3rd stem a few years ago... And the 2nd tree from left... Had to use the box on the forks to get above the bad center... Then the right side leaner...both gave the pucker factor...no where to go when you're in the box... Notched, ready for the bore cut... Barely cut the trigger, had some center rot not visible from the notch...broke a tad early It didn't barber chair, long piece hit the stump on the way down... Then we dropped the single tree... Big notch, cut from both sides with 28" bar... Son ran the XS2511T limbing... Then he graduated to the XS4910, he said it was like a laser...lol... He ran the MS461 a bit with supervision, he watched while the last big chunk was cut so it could be moved to the trash pile... Got a decent amount of solid wood from that tree And 3 trunk sections, 3' long Only got 1 cleaned up by lunchtime. 2 more to go...
Worked some more on our son's home project, he has to get a service line ran to the property. The power company came out, he will need a primary line installed, they no longer cut the right of ways......but I think we know someone who likes operating equipment and dropping trees... Wish I had gotten some before pictures ... We're having to make a 50' wide path...from my sister's yard to his place... Jeff IV had cut all the smaller trees with the XS2511T the other day, I got the wood up and brush cleared Thursday and Friday morning. Then we started dropping the bigger trees... These 2 had to be pushed away form her yard and powerline Next 3, I just went with the natural lean...he got them limbed up, just need to buck to abou 12' logs. Sadly, this big oak is in the middle of the path and has to go also... More farwood...
Quite a project. It certainly is a great feeling to have the skills and ability to be somewhat self sufficient with jobs like this. And HUGE $ savings. Looking good!!
We got the oaks bucked to 12' lengths, mostly, moved them to the storage yard and added to the last campground load... Shorter, fresh cut ends
