Thursday morning early(5AM) started out with thunderstorms, by midmorning it cleared off and I (Miz Carol was working on other things) was able to start making progress on the pile of rounds.
25 rounds made this pile of splits 20250213_120429.jpg
Got those stacked, which finished the 8th row and part of the 9th. 1000016741.jpg 1000016739.jpg
It's amazing how fast that white oak turns pink when exposed to air... 1000016740.jpg
Split 16 more rounds and got it stacked 1000016742.jpg
There is an area between the 8th & 9th stack, we are filling it with 3 rows across.
We have 15 rounds left to process 1000016743.jpg If that doesn't finish the shed, still have 4 1/2 logs left from the pile

Fond memories of my dad cutting red oak when I was a kid. I was always marvel at how fast it went from red to pink.

    Making good progress my friend.

That's a good time. I love zoning out with the headphones while splitting and stacking. What was the temperature like?

It has varied wildly, couple days almost 80 for the high. Last week it was cold and nasty, light rain or misty for 2 days, upper 40'-50's. Cold will be here again next week, low 20's next Thursday. I have enjoyed the sunny days in the 60's...

Oh man, jealous! I'm ready for some warm temps. We're getting the same cool down next week, lows near the single digits, I just want to get this darn mud gone!

Sunday thru Thursday we will be having negative temps. A couple days will be down in the teens below zero. Warming up again by next weekend. Typical WI winter weather.

Miz Carol helped me last night after I got off work. We split those 15 rounds and it filled the shed perfectly...GOD is so GOOD...
This is the way we filled in the area between 8th & 9th row... 20250215_193038.jpg
    This shed is DONE...hallelujah... 20250215_220156.jpg
Should be 9 cords of premium splits, our "retirement" shed...we should be on the 5-6 year plan soon...:thumbs:...
I think we will clean out the 5 cord shed next to it and start filling it with white oak or hickory.
We split the first pile on Jan 29th...don't guess that was to bad for an old guy and his sweet helper working along on it.

Cleaned out the 14' shed next to the big shed we just filled. This shed will hold 5 cords...the end wall holds the first couple rows in place, then it will get taken down... 1000016824.jpg
Moved the splitter and more white oak logs to process 1000016830.jpg
Got 1 big round split so far... 1000016831.jpg
