I don't know if I mentioned it but I play the banjo in the evenings. I'm glad we are on the verge of winter because I am diving deep into music and practicing all the time now. Here's a band that sounds great on vinyl and from what I have heard, amazing live.
Finally got around to tracking down some of the Saint Bushmill's Choir music. I could only find a sample of Whiskey in the Jar. Sounds like a fun cover.
Can't forget The Cowboy Junkies cover either. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=x4XVJj4jER4 (I seem to lack the skills necessary to embed the video into the page)
How about some Rory Gallagher. Listening to his self titled debut album right now. Pretty much everything he played is good. He certainly died much too early.
It is sad. I wonder about Randy Rhoads. I read somewhere that he didn't party much and snuck off to take music lessons while on tour. Not sure if that is true but I would hope so. I admire that quality in him. Oh well. Not to be a downer, just an end of the long day at work ramble.
Going in another direction this is what I'm listening to now if you like the singer song writer ,this is great stuff.
I am very glad that I got to see SRV. I still kick myself I the butt for missing a few of his shows. Unfortunately there was no next time.
Low. Indie music at its unique best. Far from the mainstream. They are slow, they are soft but in no way are they easy listening.
Caught this on the way to work today .Sirius radio is great list the artist and the song so I can write it down and check them out later
Great show on right now (6pm west coast time) on KEXP. Swingin' Doors, honky tonk, country, etc. It's awesome, check it out... It's the Listen Live links in the upper left. http://kexp.org/
I've been crushin' on fiddle players (see my TBT post). Everything from Baker to Daniels. I can't even decide on which song to post. It is another instrument I would like to learn how to play. I know of someone that has a spare. Hmmmm... (giggle)
