I think mine does that too. I'll check tomorrow AM. There's an acoustic ballad on Stand Up that is absolutely gorgeous.. I'll tape it and put it up here tomorrow AM.
Here's one to check out. The band is called Low. They are without any question different. Hard, slow, coarse, soft and minimal all at once.
I don't think I've shown you guys how I heat my basement in the winter. I don't happen to be a pellet pig (although I have many of the same habits ) nor is it with wood at all, but the heat output is similar. I can't use these amps much between early May and late September. And the music:
Can you still get tubes when they go bad? When I was just a young'n I remember my dad going to a store to get new tubes for the TV we had at the time. There was a testing machine you could plug the tube into to test them. Then you went to the rack, compared numbers and grabbed the tube you needed. And there was a huge selection.
Nice amps !! Never had the pleasure of tube amps. Love Radiohead. The cranked and distorted chords in Creep are best through old school large drivers paired with raw power. Todays little speaker dont give this type of sound justice.
Radio Shack was your best friend back then . I had limited time with tube driven televisions, but was just old enough to mess with them in my early teens.
Tubes are readily available. Although many of the coveted ones have been bought up and command high dollar you can still find new in box tubes that were made in the 50's. Many tubes are still bring made in Russia and China. That is mainly being driven by guitar amp usage.
We had a store called Tri-State. That's where my dad always went if he needed a tube. It was a variety store similar to K-Mart/Wal-Mart only on a much smaller scale.
My ex was always in charge of the fire, the wood supply, and the music. He had these big ol' 80s speakers (that went up to 11) set up outside by the fire pit.
Finally got my copy of the Jethro Tull Stand Up album out. I forgot what remarkable fidelity this album had. Just fabulous quality. I taped 2 songs from the album, Reason for Waiting is stunning.
I've been doing a bunch of picture organizing and listening to youtube tonight. Came across this. Never heard of them but I like it. A song about the roaring 20's and the depression that followed
