Wish I got to see them, but no. I did get through to WBCN waaaayyyy back to win 104 bucks to name this song when they played a snipit. But alas I had been up for 2 night straight and my brain could not remember Train In Vain over the more obvious Stand By Me...which of course was incorrect
OK. I just went through this entire thread. I have about 20 new tabs open and my computer hates me right now. So much good stuff . I did find something missing though. I spent most of the 80's traveling up and down the east coast with these guys. We'll start off with a cover from RFK Stadium in 1991. Bruce Hornsby is on piano. My first daughter was 2 and I carried her around in a child backpack for this show. She doesn't remember it but she loves telling people about it. Then a very soulful piece from the American Beauty album. And one more from The Meadowlands in NJ. I was here too.
That was my last show. I stopped going to indoor venues when she was born so as not to damage her hearing. She also accompanied me to Three Rivers Stadium for a show in '90. Up until a few months ago she was using that same backpack to carry her son. I gave it to her a couple months after Logan was born. He's going on 3 and getting a little big for it.
Yeah, it's one of those bands you either love or hate. I bought a copy of the American Beauty album for my dad in the mid 80's. He was pleasantly surprised and ended up buying a couple more on his own.
I appreciate the history and the culture of the band even if they're not on my top 10 list of music. I really enjoyed this book and have a couple close friends that are "heads"... they're interesting people.
Speaking of bands that I haven't seen listed here, that really need to be. 1971 I had just graduated from college, my draft number was 320 (so I was a shoe in not to be drafted) and I was hangin' out at my "dukes" and drinkin' bud, smokin' primo and playing the grooves off of this one. This week I'm reading this. But my fav Stones book would be this. (the making of Exile on Main Street) the story of the follow-on tour of Exile on Main St,
The fellow the gave me the final push into a full blown Deadhead was a nuclear engineer. He had the final say before the waste material was shipped out of TMI after the '79 meltdown.
Ha ha. Last weekend I watched the documentary Exile on Main St with a friend. I'm a Keith fan because of his use of G tuning. Awesome band.
I liked them. Didnt really love or hate them, but I know what you mean. Neil Young is in the same Love/Hate status
Heh! I was listening to Pandora the other day (I never listen radio at home anymore) and I have an Internet Receiver so I get it in hi-def on my system and LA Woman came on. Man I hit the LOUD button then.
Still opening Xmas presents. Took this one out of the package this morning. I'm not sure yet where I place Bonamassa but this is one I am really liking as he added a great trumpet/trombone/horn section and it's a bit less Stevie Vai/Satriani and a bit more Clapton/SRV. What a gift to be able to play like this guy ...or any of them for that matter.
Steve I agree not sure where to put Joe some of his stuff is awesome other 's meh, man can play though
Got this spinning right now ,if you're into the Dead Jerry kills the pedal steel here Mickey Hart on drums . Caught these guys back in 73.
Exactly... but he's still a young guy. ...lot's of talent for sure and he's had an explosive career over the last 5 years. It's a great Blu-ray series of 4 concerts on 4 different venues from small club to the Royal Albert Hall.
