Maybe that was the problem...I was clear as a bell that night and it warped his music I spent many many nights in the Boston clubs years ago. Loved places like The Channel, The Rat, Jacks etc. The local music scene was fantastic with my favorite band from the time being Classic Ruins. They did have 1 lp called Lassie Eats Chicken. I think I still have the LP. For a few years as a teen I did lights and sound for a band called The Sods. They werent headline material, but it was alot of fun...and it got me into clubs before I was legal and back then once you were in they didnt card you. Also many of the real small places paid the band in beer tickets. Need I say more ?
I don't think there is any relation to Donnie and Marie there. Tom Wilson is his real name. He is more a part of the extended Cowboy Junkies family. That is how I discovered him.
I got a few new Blu-ray concert videos this Xmas and one of them was the Directors cut of Woodstock, not much different than the original but they also added a second disc which provides a lot of background to how all of the filming happened. It brought me back 45 years. I had this one cranked to the 9s... He died this past year. What a performance he put on at Woodstock. If you haven't watched/listened to this for a while, put the headphones on and Crank-it-up!
I like him didn't know he was with the Cowboy Junkies , when you mentioned them it made me think of another great Canadian band Blue Rodeo my brother turned me on to them both . Enjoy
Nice !!! I saw an interview with Carlos Santana about his Woodstock experience. He arrived early in the day and took some psychedelics as he wasnt supposed to go on for 7-8 more hours-figured he would be OK by then, Well he was told that he had to take the stage almost right after he took whatever it was and if he didnt go on then, he wouldnt go on at all. Well he had an over the top set and now admits that during that set he was freaking out cause his guitar was turning into a snake or a serpent or something like that. Ahhh the good ole days
Saw Santana down at Great Woods (whatever it is called now) and he was excellent. His Blu-ray of same is excellent too. ...and about 2.5 hours long.
Love Carlos saw him summer of 74 at Rich Stadium in Buffalo he was the 2nd act CSNY were the headliners . This is a cool album which I do own you won't hear this on the radio
She told an amusing story about that song when we saw them last spring. Seems her son decided to sing it in school and the principle had a discussion with her about it.
Love 10,000 Maniacs. Didnt follow them after Natalie Merchant left but apparently they continued? She had a great solo career:Tigerlily was fantastic, Opehlia and Motherland were good-Retrospective 1990-2005 highlights her best music IMO. She took a hiatus after having a baby and came back 2 years ago when she went with childrens poetry songs. Gave her new material it a solid shot, but hated it. Actually had tickets to see her for the first time at the same time period, but got rid of them when I found she was doing only this new stuff. Ah well, should have seen her when I liked her material.
Last I knew, the remaining members, except for Natalie, still live in and around Jamestown, NY. The guitarist passed away several years ago. One of the members had an alternative radio show. Not sure if it is still on. The band was never the same after Natalie left.
