I just read through this whole thread and that is 25 or 30 minutes of my life wasted that I can never get back...lol. The only post I clicked a like for was the one LodgedTree stated that he stood by his post because the bible has the earth much younger than the crap about millions and billions of years. I have no issue with someone burning an old stove with well seasoned wood, yes they still put out more emissions than a properly burned new stove (fact). I like my cat stove and yes I burn less wood than my similar sized air tight with a baffle and it keeps the house warmer (fact). Just for the record I do not believe in man made global warming and no I won't respond or debate that.
You hit the nail on the head!!! Here's where the problem lies, You see no OWB's in a city or very close to a rural town, if you do and they burn like the one in the pic does, they wind up getting banned and the @$$ hole who did it ruined it for everyone else. My point here is, if your way out in the woods with nobody around you, the "I don't give a $#!T" attitude comes into play so they burn whatever will fit in the dam thing. Nobody drives 100 MPH in a 40 MPH speed zone unless your nuts, But if your out in the desert, no police around, no public, and the speed limit is 75, your going to go 100 MPH. This is mans nature, I agree 100% with you on your response but back to the politics, it's easier to "ban" the stove then to educate! And it's a knee jerk reaction for uneducated politicians to do so, nor do they care. They automatically assume the general public are stupid! Some are...
I am a God fearing man, "but" science has shown easily the age of the earth. Also they can see what a layer of ice has accumulated year after year in the arctic, and they can bore down and see 250,000 years. This cannot be disputed unless you absolutely "do not" believe in a science fact base. I whole heartedly believe there is a God and a Supreme being, but you just cannot rule out science either. It takes a few million years to deposit layers of soil and create Diamonds from coal, did God just snap his fingers to fool us and give us no brain to look at the science facts? Is this a joke on us? If that were the case, what the heck are we all doing here to help one another with "science"?
There are four things that you should never talk about on this forum, religion, politics, sex, and moisture meters.
With the key word being "properly", having a EPA stove does not magically create a clean burn as many people think so. Been reading posts about EPA and pre EPA stoves for 10 years or so and there is still a lot of misconceptions out there even though the science is there for all to see.
Whoops...with the exception of moisture meters, that is about all I discuss on here! (Don't tell Katie though, she thinks everyone on here has a high opinion of her!)
Philosophy and reason are just as if not more important. If you like Franklin,.....try Mises.org too easy to add on!
That's science that the scientists you choose to believe present. Many do not believe that way and present evidence to the contrary. I have read many articles on the points you mention to back up your view. I believe as Old Spark said this is not the place for such discussions. Thanks Dave.
Here's a little food for thought. I called my Science buddy last night and spoke with him, so we all love our sports? Said and done more than 500 million gallons of jet fuel will be burned during the "whole" super bowl weekend. Here's another graph to look at, jet fuel burned. This is just an FYI folks, Not trying to "push or start an argument" Please!!! Just an FYI. This is why I don't even blink thinking about burning wood. Oh, and that statistics are "Billions of gallons per year"! Total fuel consumption of U.S. airlines 2016 | Statistic Another good read by Forbes Magazine, this is what I was stating when I wrote my initial response in here. "NOTE" there are some political view points in this artical but it is only an informational artical. EPA's Wood-Burning Stove Ban Has Chilling Consequences For Many Rural People
Don't even have to read them. Whole thread reminds me of the saying "Spending a dollar to save a dime"
The EPA artical in Forbes is really good. It is older, 2014 I believe but really good. I read it at my desk a few years back and couldn't remember the artical till I dug this morning.
So she has a lot more money in her pocket now, eh? Billions of gallons per year...kinda makes ya realize that even running fuel efficient cars/trucks is only gonna make a small dent...
