I have absolutely nothing to say bad about hill bros. I drink it often. Also enjoy folgers and maxwell. As we speak, it's a concoction of half maxwell and half folgers this a.m.
I am not a connoisseur by any means. Just enjoy a good cup, thats all.

 

All I want is a non-burned cup or 3 in the morning, then I'm gooder.
Doesn't need to cost an arm, leg, and 1/2 my torso. I even keep some real cheap instant in the cupboard for "emergency" use.

My holiday favorite is egg coffee. Start with high quality beans and grind fresh. Boil a pot of water (an enamel pot if you have one), proportions to suit how strong you like your coffee. Put in the ground coffee, crack an egg into it (yolk and all) and then throw in the eggshells too. Stir at a simmer with a wooden spoon, couple minutes at most, take off the stove, add a cup of cold water and pour off the coffee into an urn. Most of the grounds will stay put.

Serve with your poison of choice (cream or sugar, etc)

 

I prefer using the old fashioned percolator type to brew my java .
My first rule is I have to fresh grind the beans right before Brewing.
I use African beans as they are less bitter.
The difference is in the way the beans are prepared for roasting .

We prefer Costa Rican Tarrazu, light-medium roasted. We get it at a reasonable price from Amazon/Coffee Bean Direct. Grind it fresh every morning with a burr-type grinder and brew in a stainless steel French press (we have broaken way too many glass ones over the years). It makes me happy. YMMV.

 

Grind the beans and put in a french press. Not as quick as a normal coffee maker but it's good. Get whatever beans to suit you or ground coffee.

 

Stopped at a restaurant the other morning where the waitress is quite a handful! (In a good way)
I don't know what they did different to the coffee, but it tasted horrible. With a smile, she asks,
"Hows your coffee this morning?"

(Me) "It tastes like mud!"

I am the only one in the house to drink coffee, dog doesn't.Found it most economic to cold brew it N heat each cup individually. Each cup taste like the first N no waste.Takes any bitterness out of it to,easy to drink black even tho I prefer little sugar N milk.Now I want another cup!

 

If I remember, its a recent purchase, no? Maybe they'll stand behind it?

 

French press or an old style percolator is tops in my book for making coffee. And I drink it straight black.

I really like Black Rifle Coffee Company or Invader Coffee. Veteran owned and operated, and the coffee is really, really good. It's on the pricier end for coffee, but when I know I'm helping American Veteran owned businesses I'll gladly pay a little more. The everyday stuff for me is the big bag of Dunkin' Donuts coffee from Costco.

If I'm on the road, I'll hit DD or McDonald's (Mikey D's has some dang good coffee, cheap!), but I'm EXTREMELY proud to say that I have NEVER purchased anything from Starbucks. I want my businesses to concentrate on their business and that's all. When they start dictating social policy and how I should think, they get crossed off of my to-do-business-with list.

 

I grind my own. I like 8 o'clock coffee alot, but a dark roast depending on sales. My wife found a kitchenAid grinder on a curb. Best grinder I've ever had. Every grind is perfect. I don't drink anymore, so I find myself drinking more and more coffee. Heck, might as well anyway, Ecspecially if a fella has to get up to pee 2 times a night anyway?
