Those are Genevas in the name brand bags. You probably can't see it in the picture but they are all stamped with a giant "GWF" on the side. All the white pallets you see are private label TSC bagged Genevas.
So I stopped by lowes today cause I had to replace my goddammed mf pita sink trap(more on that later) . But I happened to notice about half of lowes stock is accounted for with purchasers names on the ton. Now this isnt saying much cause lowes dropped the ball last year and appears to be doing that again this year. So they have about 30 tons in stock which is nothing compared to hd. Oddly enough alot of north americans and timber heats are sold. Not one reserved ton of green supreme and a few tons of green teams are reserved not many. Some body did buy the clean burns I was eyeing up but could never reach to get some (heard they where hamers) and there is a ton of inferno golds missing 5 bags that I helped myself to with one of those rolling stair things
If those Clean Energy's are still produced by Hamer, those would be a really good score especially using a 10% off coupon on them. http://firewoodhoardersclub.com/forums/threads/clean-energy-wood-pellets-review.8401/
I I tried so hard to reach them to grab a few and see if they where hamers but they musta been 40 ft up the stairs couldnt even reach the bottom of the ton
Have to go back tomorrow to pickup my ton of pro pellets at TSC. Many tons of North Americans and Green Supremes in front of my pellets have to be moved. Schoondog
TSC has always been intent on calling all pellets equal. Talk to their clerks, they have pellets or they don't have pellets. All the same to them.
I got a few messages from my dealer pals. So far all are sayin that their sales aren't as effected as the box stores. Seems they are actually selling slightly more. Some of the box store crowd has bailed with the price and went to them for only a few bucks more. Still waiting for a couple to reply. One said he has sold out almost all his spring deals. And he'll sell out the rest by the end of the month. He's expecting a up swing from 2014 which has been his best year yet. Another said he only has a few that are on the fence and thinking to use the other stat. But they are still getting some pellets to help out the oil.
Well I have my 4tons for the season im not to concerned about stock. The only way ill move is on some somersets if I find them later in year
But I think this all just hype. Dealers and stores trying to scare people. Like last years shortage that I never saw. Lowes was the only one out of pellets in october. Hd and tsc had plenty of stock. I found pellets all year long in most stores I went to. So just take it with a grain of salt
Unfortunately I was in an area that saw heavy shortage. Box stores were bare and the pellet houses were rationing supplies. I was not effected a I had more than I needed, But a few of my neighbors were. They are now either full(bought pellets early) or Full(oil tanks over flowing). Like I do every year since I got stuck(2001 season) with out pellets I have my supply topped off. I can either run these dry and refill next spring or top off as I go if deal's happen. I'm hoping deal do happen and I can top off. The years were oil is low is usually the best years for pellet deal's. Rewind to late 08/early 09(look through old forum posts) and you'll see roughly what we have going this season. IIRC it was the beginnings of the box store wars.
Its funny how one hd In ny can keep plenty of stock most of the year and others across state lines cant. I wondern if its a state thing or maybe a particular box store managment thing
I do remember CT having shortage problems last year which stumps because at the same time I remember tsc overflowing with sets and awf white pines thru january. Same with hd and awf white pines.
I haven't bought pellets for the season yet. No place to put them. My son plans to work on that. This means that more of my stuff will go away. We didn't have issues getting pellets last year. I had a supply, but often just drove to the box store, they would load it, drive back home and it got unloaded right into the porch. Lots easier than hauling it from the garage. Don't think either way will be an issue for me this year. Cheap oil, lots of pellets available.
My area(western) was pellet dry from Novemberish to April. As soon as the loads came in they were gone. It wasn't until mid May before things stabilized. Eastern was not as bad a central and western. Some of the southern regions were also fine. Danbury near your area was OK iirc.
I don't want to say the word "mistake" but home depot showed the're cards very early this year with average 269.00 ton. 20.00 more per ton than last year.. Since it's not even September yet, this is giving pellet buyers some breathing room to check out other places and maybe shell out 10-20 bucks more for better stuff. . Lat years shortage sent eveyone and his mama scrambling to BBS's just to get whatever they had.. Not the case this year.. I bought Lignetics [green bag] for 5 dollars more than Stove chows sell at HD right now.. that's a no brainer after expiriencing HD'S mountain of Ash brands....
