Looks like you really put the MS 261c through it's paces there gmule . I'm glad you like the saw. I think that will be my next saw when the time comes.

Yes. The 261 is a great saw and not so heavy it wears you out so fast.

I've got one, had it long enough to really enjoy how it cuts, handles, and runs. No problems with it at all, i think its almost replaced my 026, and i really like that little saw, i've honestly had one, of my 2, 026's for 32 yrs. And, used it for 95% of that time as my main saw for cutting firewood.

I replaced my circa 1993 026 with my 290 in 2010. Served me well for 17 years as my only saw. Had an 028 from 1985-1993. Nothing but praise for the product from me!

Which model of the 261 do you have? There is a 261 and a 261 CM. Not sure if i can justify the CM. I keep waiting for the 500, but it only seems to be around overseas

Im real curious about the 500 myself. I asked a couple Stihl dealers and they said later this year.

It is the C with the electronic carburetor on it. From a cold start it only takes 3 or 4 pulls for it start and warm it starts with one pull. It doesn’t matter if it’s hot or cold out side and I have had it in elevations up to 9,000 above sea level with out any issues. It was a little spendy at $600 usd. I am running a 18” bar on it
