You know it was your refusal to allow any negative comments about the ms362 on this forum that led to the start of the 'ms362 is awesome!!!!' movement. Maybe you should lighten up and let other people voice their opinions without getting so worked up.
My motto has been. It's not how much money you make. It's how you want to spend it. If living expenses are paid what does it matter. What makes you happy. Saws, cars, trucks, whatever other thing you are into, your family. I can't take any with me but I can let my kids fight over it. Just my two cents. Which is all I really have.
Not very often around here buddy. I saw a $200 044 a while back. It sold within a couple minutes. I also bought a $200 372xp. What a piece of crap that saw was... I bought it sight unseen, and it looked like it had fallen out of a truck on the highway. It fired up the first time, then the coil quit working, so I traded it off.
I know it was me.. I get it. I got it. We all got it. You can ask many who know me. I know it was me. Been directed at me.. And always will be. Its old though. Really old. You dont have any better content? And frankly, even the owners of this awesome saw and all the staff, are tired of your chit. I am the one who lightened up. I went with it. It was funny. For the first 60 days. The last 60, is a little old.
That's not the norm here in Indiana either. I can't even say it's an occasional occurrence. At best, it's rare and once annually. Regardless of time of year or temperature. A couple of years ago good deals were here to be had (still not $200 or less for a running 044 or the like), but that's a thing of the past. It makes me very sad....
I have saws that I have $5 into. And I have saws that I have over $1200 in. Wanna take a guess which one I like more? Keep guessing 'cause I'm still figuring it out. Plenty of $400 MS290's (with a CASE, what a deal!) to be had on CL around here. Or those Homelite Rangers that Mike likes so much. $100 OBO, hurry boys, they'll be here all day at these prices.
I've had the pleasure of running Randy's ported saws several times....one of those was MasterMech 's MS441....I dropped a big sugar maple at swags place and lemme tell ya.....I was impressed. There's a vid somewhere out there in fall "fa-la-la-la-la" land... matter of fact I carved a pumpkin for Mrs. Dex at DexterDay's place this fall with his "babanarized" 261....I giggled like a schoolgirl running it..... I've pieced-down and dropped so many trees over the past 10-12 years I've lost count and I've run countless saws, even doing some of my own modding along the way and I can guarantee you a ported saw, no matter what the size of said saw is, will impress anyone who runs saws alot. THAT said, Mastermind is a great guy from not only the quality of his work and his personal warranty to said work but his philanthropy as well. I've seen it many times, he's first class all day long in my book..
Thats cause your in big firewood country. Never see that down here!! My scores are $25-30 stihl 009&011s. Pm me id like to get my hands on an 044 at a crackhead stolen CL price!!
Gee dex, I had no idea you felt that way. What can I say? I find humor in the fanaticism for ported saws and the zero tolerance for alternative views. The ms362 is awsesome comment is a way to point it out in a non confrontational way with humor. I have nothing against ported saws; non of my saws are stock. I just would not spend the money to have someone else make a 261 cut like a 361. I'd rather buy another saw. And maybe poke an extra hole in the muffler (And there are plenty of ms361's in the $3-350 range.) Or better yet $250 262xp's. It's not an attack on anyone or some hidden agenda comment. Just an opinion. Maybe instead of telling people GFY repeatedly, locking threads and getting all worked up you should take some time to step back, read what's being said and relax.
WOW ................ the "real truth" on several fronts OK boys ............... water under the bridge - shall we agree ? Dex has done a fantastic job, under trying circumstances. Mike has reeeaaally made his point. Nobody is perfect and we all learn something new, maybe once a day, or once in a blue moon, but now its time to move forward, for my sake at least. The real truth: cutting this thing aint what I want to do, but its what I will do. I don't like it, I don't want to do it, but I am going to do it .............. and the tree owner aint going to hear one peep of complaint out of me, I will crazy glue a smile on my ugly pie eating hole if I have to !!
You're right, there is a huge emphasis here on modified (not just ported) saws. The Kool-Aid is definitely mixed strong and I find it amusing as well. That said, I don't have a dog in the hunt surrounding you & Dex's apparent bad blood, but he's not the only one who feels that way regarding your new catch phrase. The '362 is awesome' comments have long since gotten old to this member as well and is far past having been overdone. It's seems like that comment can be found in every thread in this forum nowadays despite the topic or what the OP is trying to learn or share - it's a shame to add noise to all of the chainsaw conversations. If you find yourself constantly typing the same thing it might be time to think about a new line . . . and then perhaps change it up regularly to keep it fresh. I'm reminded of a saying; "Those who talk the most have the least to say."
