Gas stove are way better for a cook top ( problem with electric burners they still cook some 20 minutes after you killed the power. electric oven reign in that area because they are a bit more even for the overall area still have to plan for the element cool down or things will be over cooked.
Results are in. Kinda lackluster.....imo. Oh well, I'm sure we'll think of something to do with the lumber.
May need to get the mods to edit the thread title.... "The pigs killed it".....and, we like bacon.... and, in depth discussion on gas vs electric ranges".....
Yawner I believe the reason your gf's cooked bacon tastes better than yours is, you love her and everything she does makes you swoon.
LOL!!! Reminds me of years back when I was married. I'd crave a cup of coffee after supper. I'd make puppy dog eyes at her to which she would say "you want coffee"? I'd reply "yes, it tastes better when you make it!"
Thanks buddy. It’s been quite a while since I’ve done any of it. Definitely way past due. I should put it on the list of things to do as soon as we get a break in the weather. If I get ambitious, I’ll let you know
There is a local butcher shop owned by a couple good old Yugoslavian boys that makes the best sausage, bacon,, snack sticks etc, and all they use to smoke their meats is cherry.
Maybe you could trade them some cherry for their meats? One of my regular smoker customers gave me a half rack of ribs when he picked up his last order. I was temporarily out of oak and later dropped it off at his place as he was very close to my wood yard. He gave me another half rack. Man were they delicious. I guess he does several racks at once. Id trade wood for ribs!
Need the recipe for this peppered bacon of which you speak.....our homemade bacon is already awesome, but I'm always looking for ways to make things even awesomer.....
Tree definitely looks like elm, only other tree with similar bark would be blue beech/ironwood, but don't think they get that big. As for the smell, look where it was growing... When I was saying in the early '80's, we cut several walnut trees from different areas, one came from a barn lot and smelled like a mule or sweaty horse.
