Bought some off a guy I work with he had around 10000 rounds of 22 for 30 a brick. The funny part though is he doesn't even own 22.

Picked up seven 30 round boxes of these today, and about 25 boxes total in the last 2 weeks.

They are SS109/M855 62 grain. The newer style green box's are marked SS109. $9.97 for 30 rounds.
Now don't tell anyone but they can be found at your local super store that starts with a big W.

You know, I thought about buying a few hundred rounds of 5.56 last week when I was at Cabelas. I was ever so slightly worried that the talk of banning green tip would confuse people and they’d start thinking that ALL 5.56 ammo would be banned. But then I thought to myself “people won’t be that stupid”. I just bought my for AR last month, so I fully intend on stocking up a few hundred rounds at a time. But funds aren’t permitting that right now.

But I guess I was wrong about people being stupid. Just this past Saturday I was playing poker with some buddies and they were complaining that all .223 was going to be banned, and were worried since that’s what they use to hunt coyotes. I had to explain the difference between .223 and 5.56, and then what green tip / M855 was.

Unfortunately , your right, people are stupid.
Actually they like to show off their knowledge, even when they have none.
People get crazy when they hear about a ban. Sometimes rightfully so, but lots of times they just need better info.

This crisis will pass soon, then get back to stocking up. watch for sales and specials at the big outdoors stores and just buy a little at a time. Take inventory of your cache and keep a list in your car of what you need. If you get to the supply house and see what you need, get what you can afford.
Once you have ten thousand rounds for each gun, then you can slack off a bit.;)

That's really not a bad number to shoot for! Back when .22lr was plentiful, I had a stock of 5k bulk rounds. I've gone through all of that, and only have 2 more 500 packs because I found them on a store shelf for $20 last spring. I'm nervous that I won't be able to make my last 1000 rounds of cheap bulk ammo last through this summer and I'll have to dip into my CCI mini mags and target rounds! A buddy of mine had 15,000 rounds of .22 going into this whole mess, and even though he's shot through half of that, he's not worried in the least about running out.

Yeah it sucks that there's a shortage. more people have bought guns and more are learning to shoot. I'm going to start my 6 year old on an AR this summer since I don't want to use up all my 22. I guess that may not happen if we can't get a plentiful supply. The wife and I will go through 500 or so each outing since we don't get to go as often since the 2nd kid.

That's my problem. I'm not trying to hoard because i think the zombies are coming for me. I like to shoot! When i do get a good day of range time in it can be a few hundred rounds each time. I haven't pulled my ar out of the safe in a few months :( Not because i don't have the ammo but im afraid i'll get carried away and shoot everything i've got! :rootintootin::rootintootin: Well that and it's been booger freezin cold out all winter :shiver:

Save some, shoot some, and when The End Of The World As We Know It comes, you'll have all you need to last the rest of your life and you'll have some to horse trade for other things you'll need.

Check out the ammunition thread at the ar15 forum. Most of them guys are sitting on 30k plus rounds of ammunition.
