Sorry guys it was plum. My bbq wood but i decided that split to go in the stove since that night it was dropping to mid 20’s. Gonna post the next one soon as my daughter gets her butt in bed!!!
specifically, western red cedar... aka pacific red cedar aka giant cedar aka giant or western arbor vitae aka shinglewood aka Thuja plicata Native to the Pacific Northwest. Now for those bean counters out there....this is all the same tree so don't be thinking it's more than one guess! Which, by the way, happens to be a member of the cypress family....Ikeholt
stuckinthemuck It was Western Red Cedar and I was looking for at least those two words. You’re up next hawdar.
I wasn't even gonna take a SWAG on that one...only Cedar I ever cut was a lil ole bush...it was 6" at the bottom so I farwooded it
The recently reposted rules would support that yooperdave gave the most accurate answer. While I said red cedar, there are two clear species of red cedar which include eastern and western. Juniperus virginiana for eastern and Thuja plicata for western... Actually, the genus is also different, Juniperus versus Thuja. The two distinct species converge at the family of Cupressaceae... With that said, my guess of red cedar could have been one of two very different trees... by the rules, a winning guess until yooperdave made his guess which was more specific. With that, I concede my victory to yooperdave who I hope has enough time to post some pics today..
