Purchased treated 4x4s. Everything else was untreated. No additional treatment applied to posts.

This wood rack was built with scavenged materials and trees from my property. No nails were used. All done "bushcraft" style with cut notches and paracord.
Approximate dimensions, 6 feet tall in front, 4 feet tall in back, 24 feet long and about 4 feet deep, so it will hold about two cords.

Not bad for a free storage area.

That's a nice meaty piece of salvaged tin!

Its actually four pieces of 12ft lengths, but it's the good old stuff... The stuff sold at Lowes is 26ga, and is very flexible.
If were to guess those panels are at least 20ga and weigh about 50 pounds a piece. They are so rigid, I didn't need any cross braces. Quite a score in my book.

I'd be proud to have that in my backyard. Was the tin from an old tobacco barn?

Not sure. There is an old dumping ground down in the State Forest near where I live. These were amongst old cars and 55 gallon drums.
It took weeks to drag them out of the woods but I knew what I wanted them for.

I love it. Nice and rustic and simple and serves the purpose. I scrounged some old aluminum roof panels from and estate clean up. Was going to scrap them but built a lean to shed for my friend. Mostly scrounged & reclaimed materials, some was deeply discounted cull lumber. Not quite finished. IMG_1870.JPG IMG_1871.JPG Welcome to the FHC btw! :handshake: Nice to have you join us.

How many cords are in this one? 40 " diameter 18' long, tapers less than 3"?

We lost this decent size White Pine to the wind last year.

Today is the day to get it cleaned up.

These trees have been down several years from the wind. But are still solid enough for shoulder season firewood.

The splitting and stacking begins. Showed my son how to change the spark plug on the splitter. It didn’t want to start up quick so I said the heck with that and we ran up to Advance Auto and got a new one. Second pull she was purring like a kitten.

Replacing a few wore out pallets as we go along. I’m going to save the older, rotten ones and bring them to our friend Pallet Pete !

Kartman if my math is right that log is just shy of two cord
40"x40"=1600x.785=1256/144=8.73cubic feet per ft x 18=157.14 cubic feet
There is approximately 80 cubic feet of solid wood per cord

Scored a load of maple compliments of the local street department. Great workout after being inside for a few weeks.
