Yup, ended up ordering the side shields halfway through the season. Even though I'm well with in the ctc's with 22" on each side, I was seeing 145-160 on the walls when I was cruisin at 500-600. I'm sure I was fine, but I like to be over safe.

I'm seriously considering getting a set. I expected them to be larger back to front though.

You said, " These are the first 20 loads, with many more to go. " My wood insecurity is flaring up, I can't sleep at night. I have the sound of a saw going round my head like a bad record. I must cut wood, I need more wood!:stacke::hair:. It's OK, I'm over it now. :rofl:  Glad to meet you Splitsnstacks . You have some great pics there!

Lucky is one way to look at it I suppose:picard:. No, it really is an awesome old house, it has just been a serious amount of work and $ getting it back to working order. It's a solid old house though, we sure don't build em like this anymore, trust me I build them :wacky:

Hehehe... if you build new homes, I can see how it might be a stretch to think dealing with an old farm is "fun"...  ... good news is you can leave all of your leveling tools on your jobsites, won't need em at home... ;):D

Stinny and Chris, I was referring more to the solid framing and attention to detail that went into this old house and most houses from the time period. Also while I always try my best, I've come to the conclusion that perfectly level, plumb, square, are all merely a "goal" not a guarantee even in new construction. And when they are achieved they don't stay that way for long like you said Chris.
