Anyone who is so heavy into wood cutting, such as you have shown, deserves one. You are alway helping your parents out. Even more reason to have a splitter. Since there is no end to gathering wood, but there are limits on you, I certainly would peruse getting one of your own. I usually have my best luck with new tools. They seems to last forever. Not so good for used, but then I am clueless how to work on an engine or hydraulics.

I pretty much became his slave :)
Just kidding. Easy place to dump, give them refreshments when I help on a job, try to pick up the wood from site when I can & some gas money from time to time. He only calls me for the premium wood. Everytime I talk to him he tells me how much he owes me for all the help I give him. I just say we are even.

been on a bit of a hiatus, but got out and made another small stack today (picture to follow.) i'm at the high end of wood-a-holic, or low end of cord-horder. i keep all mine in small airy stacks. this one is red oak with a little white oak on top. the stack in the back is chestnut oak.

That's the thing I clear the red alert thing almost daily. I get notifications to my email and check them as time permits throughout day. Pete and I have discussed this. There is glitches somewhere? I knew this post had stuff I had not read but just let it go. Then here comes an email notification out of nowhere?

I'm on the site all day. Sometimes the email notifications come hours after I have read a new post. :p

LOL! I turned off email notifications at the very beginning. Then a couple weeks ago I was over at Scotty's picking up some locust for a test burn in the new stove, and we were talking about how strange stuff happens on the forum, stuff that makes you go "Hmmmmm...." or worse.

Then I got home to my first and only email notification in months.

    Hmmmm....

BrianK-- you probably still are watching this thread with email notifications. At the top of the thread click unwatch thread and then watch it again.

I have email notifications turned off in my preferences. I get too many emails I can't keep up with as it is, so I just follow the "Alerts" at the top of the page here.
