Nope,this was an abortion from the start

 

Officially a Cord hoarder here free load of what I think is maple. Maybe 1.5 cords to bring my supply up to 7.

 

First ever oak score.
Don't know my oaks well thinking black or pin? Central Indiana
Split some oak,ash,pine,Bradford pear,cherry

 

Smooth bark looks like pin oak to me. Black oak has a rough alligator skin looking bark.

 

A great day for getting those stacks dry.

 

Today’s brief work.

 

I am calling this done. I’ll only replace what I burn at this point. I’m calling it 45 cords. About 35 in the holzhausens and another 10 stacked at the top of the hill out of sight.

 

462 & 251 got some use today on a dead-standing white oak. I hate to lose a white oak, but there's plenty around and this one was perfect firewood size imo. About 12" at the base and wood was still SOLID for being a dead tree. Nice afternoon session.

 

Anyone have any trees to clean up from all this midwest wind? I have a small ash if I can navigate the fence and ditch to get to it.

This tree fell over one of our ATV trails around that time. Left it alone during deer hunting and sawed most of it up yesterday. Four loads in the John Deere Gator. Wife supervised and helped. That is a lot of work, but you got what you worked for. Nice equipment always helps!

Whatever it is, we have 4-6 inches of that stuff on the ground here.
