I just brought home a 45cc Quake that my friend at work bought. It's here for the muffler surgery. So far I have convinced two co-workers that they need a Quake.:rofl:

Post what your doing. I'm on the fence about where and how to do mine. I thought about the 3/4 hole right thru then thought about one just to right of current

Instead of "Stage One Mods" etc.;) (AS reference) how about an Earthquake Scale??

A running tuned saw rates an EQ2
    A muffler mod is EQ3..etc.

    OK my 3814 arrived.

This one was in a plain box yet had some cardboard to keep it from banging too bad.

IMG_20131211_115703.jpg this one is definitely used, but for less than 5 mins maybe. There is fine dust on recoil, some under chain cover and there was oil everywhere. The chain is used but not even dull yet. And very minimal paint wear on bar rails. Got a scrench and scabbord but no instructions! Ok never mind I found the instructions they were in the bag xeroxed and used as an oil soaking device. IMG_20131211_115824.jpg IMG_20131211_115848.jpg 1386781487113.jpg

OK so I assembled the 38. That front chain adjuster is a pain with a scrench. I was assembling in my office, getting funny looks, which is why no screw driver. But not as bad a you think I am a forester so this is somewhat normal activity for me even in an office setting. I just am like one of the 5 forestry workers in an office of like 20, a professional office!!

OK so I went to the parking look to my stash of premix. Fueled it up. It popped on 2nd or third pull and fired on the next. I forgot to count :(

But sounds like a good muffmod is needed seems OK for a lumber and small stuff but can tell it lacks!

What do the carb screws look like. Mine were just regular old slotted screws with no limiters. And it was tuned perfectly. 3000 at idle and hit 11000 max rpm. (Just what the owners manual spec's)

Think the 45 I have screw are like the 38 and there a round with the edges cut off. So to make it clearer its like a D but the bottom is also flat as well.

    That's the Ryobi/Homelite "double d" type.

I like it :) EQ1 through EQ5? Or is more needed?

EQ5 being full blown woods port
EQ4 being base gasket delete and/or cut Squish
    EQ3 Muff mod
    EQ2 Tune
    EQ1 Stock/Box saw

And they all should come with a file as well? Have not seen many post about the file.

Man, y'all got some good packaging. No plastic bags in mine, no anything to keep it from bouncing around. Mine looked like someone threw parts in a box and taped it shut. I'm sure the file that was supposed to come with my 45cc saw is in a fed ex sort facility somewhere.

My instruction manual that was photocopied had a coffee cup ring on it. And some oil. Still can't b*tch for the price paid.

We need a few more -- between eq4 and 5 -- for some minor cleanup/polishing of the exhaust and intake. And don't forget alkie saws and or a tuned pipe.

I got 6 files out of the 14 Earthquakes I bought

If you guys change the chain to .325 you'll notice a change with the saw
