You'll find out that the chain will wear out fast

This is why I changed to a different brand and style of chain

Now if you muffler mod the 023 it may have the upper hand. Most say these are not as power full as a stihl of similar CC.

Hopefully they don't change their prices! Look at this action that is about to end.

    I have an MS230 and a CS4518, so I guess we will see. ;)

Mine runs ok, but this is the chance you take with these. If you are looking for something great out of the box and no tinkering, this is not the right machine for you.

It wouldn't be so much trying to blow it up. More like seeing how long it takes to blow it up. Maybe I should play around with it for a bit, then do the torture test live at the gtg. We'll see, I'm pretty cheap, so I'm not going to make any promises. If I blow that up I'll only have 8 saws left. Then what?

Fed Ex just dropped of my 38cc saw. This one was packaged with as much care as the first one (hint of sarcasm there). Even the Fed Ex guy said 'hope whatever is in there isn't broken'. :)

This one has wood dust all over it and oil residue on the muffler. Definitely been used. On a good note, the chain is brand new in a bag and I got a file with it. Didn't get a file with the 45cc saw.

It's warming up in the basement. Might just pop the muffler off and mod it before even trying to run it.

Figured as much based off how the 45cc ran.

I wish these saws could talk so we'd know the reason they got sent back.

All of mine have had fuel in them but no oil. My guess is folks bought them, not really knowing anything about the tool they just bought.

Now as far as comparison between the Earthquake and the Richmond.
I would compare the Earthquake to a Craftsman and
    the Richmond to a Stihl
they are extremely different as far as plastic quality, fit and finish and design
    first impressions
Earthquake plastic handle, inboard clutch, plasticy plastic bar mount sloppy, chain brake sloppy
Richmond aluminum handle, full floating clutch, good plastic
also have already replaced sprocket on Richmond with 8 tooth Stihl, more chain speed

Be like the guy on AS who said "his neighbors think he is nuts out there in the dark with a headlight on reveing chainsaws."
