    145 #'s for a saw that wasn't run? That's great IMO.

Did you ever run it? If there is no fuel/oil mix in the cyl? Then your numbers will be low.

Also, what temp did you test it at? (How cold was it outside when you tested it?)

My post was lost when my phone slowed and I "boosted ram" but I had that I have put just better than a tank through it. He piston looks new no scratches. This is the one I put the modded muffler on. Yes it had mix in cyl. Plug was wet when pulled. No I had not run it today and outside temp was 38F.

I'm sure rings will seat better its not even broken in yet.

But dang I seenthese things pushing 200psi!

K.. My 45cc did look like this a couple hrs ago.

    In a box :(

    1390077429169.jpg

But she is almost back together. :)

Did a few little things. I am no builder. I am a pretty good mechanic and have worked on everything I own, but I do not claim to be an engine porter/builder.

I took some weight of the _____. Then I opened up the ________. Widened the _____. Took off the ____ _______. Ground off some of the _______. And that's about it ;)

Did you get some bids of the cuts for a baseline time?

So that we know if ......,.........,and ..... had any effect?

I ran it but never timed anything. I got the dual port, new full chisel chain, and then did a light port job.

No vids. There is enough vids of it in turd form to compare.

If it doesn't run good, then I open it back up and do some more. If it gets worse? Then I sell it and buy another. ;)

Did you cut all your baffel out? I was worried that it gave the muffler structural integrity so I only cut the 2 sides out. It sounds bad now!! I need to get some chisel chain for it still. I actually like the thing for some reason?

Just curious Dex but did you take a comp reading (before/after) and measure squish? I did and with the base gasket in it (stock form), .050" solder didn't even touch the top of the cylinder..... I ditched the gasket (.020) and I'm still at .044". Big difference on the compression numbers. I widened the exhaust significantly and took the intake out slightly as well. It runs like it should now! No transfer work on this one , didn't touch the port timing at all. It's my buddy's saw, haven't cracked mine open yet.

It runs great now, but there is a LOT more to be had from these little motors I think.

    Need more carbides........

I didn't mess with port timing. Only widened the intake and exhaust. Opened the transfers a little and opened the windows a little. Shaved a considerable amount of weight off the piston itself. Ditched bade gasket (squish is at .035) and I am about to start it now :)

Just got done with it. I have been messing with so many other saws. And finally today after grinding on the 55 Rancher. I decided to just do the Earthquake.

I will measure squish on mine and pull gasket. What is the best sea lent that I should get. Preferably one that can be found at say advance auto as I'm only near a small town with not many places to go. Otherwise I have to eBay it.

Loc time 515 or 518 is what Randy uses. I use Dirko or CNH high temp Gasket maker.

Your looking for something that is High temp, and also Anaerobic.

I used the CNH on the Earthquake. It was opened and my Dirko isnt. I needed some Dirko and was at my dealer (months ago), they didn't have Dirko, so I bought this with their recommendation. The last time I was there, to have my 441 fixed, I bought another tube of Dirko.

The CNH is actually more expensive than Dirko (and Dirko isnt cheap). Pretty pink color and smells nice too.

Permatex makes a High temp copper or orange sealant that should be at Advance or other car parts stores.

    You need something fuel-resistant.

Most motorcycle and atv dealers sell their version of sealant l use yamabond from Yamaha it's messy but all that's used to seal the cases on my banshee figured if it seals them screamers it must be good.

Yep heard yamabond is good. But remember I said I live in a small town. There are no motorcycle or ATV dealers in town. Use to be a Polaris and used cycle ATV shop bit it went under a few yrs ago.

I have 00 400 EX (440 now ;)) with many other mods. Love that bike. Bought it new and rebuilt it several years ago. My son has a 300 EX that still looks brand new.

    (DERAIL)

Back on track. That Earthquake started an ran like a beast. Will be putting it in wood tomorrow, then letting it cool and testing compression.

The town I live in has nothing literally nothing. Half hour to town with restaurants and stores still no bikessshops . Have to go an hour to get to one. I hate the people and traffic associated with those places that's why I eBay most stuff. Even in the commuter Saturn, fuel to go to the big town runs $12!!
