I got a file with the 38 but not the 45. Got a scrench with each.

Haven't even tried to fire the 38 yet. Been playing with the snowblower a lot though. The 38 is in the basement waiting to earn its EQ-3 status. Might do that this weekend.

That's what they all should be. Clem never had a small saw, so I doubt he has seen any picco.

I haven't had a small saw so I guess I don't know what it is?? I do have a husky 445 and thought its 325 chain?? Now I'm wondering. I bought a chisel chain for the 445. Think I read off the bar the right thing to get?

    The 445 has .325.

Big chain is .404, kinda big is .375, small chain is .325, and very small chain is 3/8 low profile (picco) and is found on lots of very small homeowners saws.

U right dex, I have never owned a "small"saw!! I consider the 445 small though. But I have not messed with it or used it for more than trimming. I was given it as not running. It had water in fuel!! From a cracked gas cap. Dump thefuel and $6 cap and its good.

Don't forget Stihl's new 1/4" Picco that's on the MSE160 and the MS150TC -- Pretty sure you need a magnifier to file that stuff.

Anybody else notice the 45 cc bar mount is different from the 38/41cc? The bars do not interchange.... :(

I see the diff in the .325 and 3/8 low pro. The low pro has a cheap weak look..

I know you may not know about my HF chain grinder but in general do the same grinding wheels do what size chains? I think .325 and 3/8 are both handled with the same disk. At least that's what i have been using?

3/8 Low-Pro or Picco is a thinner wheel, usually 1/8"

And don't forget narrow kerf which uses it's own special .325 bars. It's all confusing enough to want to switch everything over to 3/8 .050 and buy a few rolls of chain. Once I decide on final line up that's what I'm going to do.

Anybody tested the compression on their 38cc? Mine only blew 135. Maybe I don't have a good seal? Gonna wet the boring and try again.

Retried it with moistened ring. And as tight as I can finger tighten. And got 145. IMG_20131212_102548.jpg

Make sure it's not blowing the oring off to the side, breaking the seal. My CS3814 blows 165psi.

It looked sealed even around the opening? I did not pull it with plug right after to see if it felt the same?

Now the 4518 has more of a pop pop on the cord, definite compression difference or just the saw and recoil assembly. Not tested it yet.

What is your fuel mixed at? Was the saw cold or warm?

Thought about that Dex. This saw was cold outside temp was in the 40s and it had not been run since yesterday.

Fuel is baileys syn mixed @50:1. Thought that warm and fuel mixed 40:1 and a more broken in saw it should increase.

Warm saw will give you lower #'s. Cold saw will yield higher numbers.

Mix some 32:1, retune, Run a full tank through it, and then wrap a few layers of pipe tape around the threads of the tester (just to be sure of a positive seal).

Oh forgot u said warm saw will lower, seems opposite to me?

I don't have a double D tool just a single. So I will have to pull the Carb and cut slots in screws. I will muffler mods it at the same time so I only have to tune it once . Not sure when I can get to that. The baby and helping moma takes most of my time now :)
