Lead was common into the late 80’s/ early 90’s. The first pan I made, in shop class, I used 50:50 solder. Also brass pumps contributed lead. Galvanized tanks were common. Formaldehyde was used by some to keep tap holes fresh. A lot of good work has been done over the years to identify and eliminate the sources of contamination.
I don’t think we can really go wrong eating what the Native Americans made and ate off this land for millennia, our own detrimental methods of using micro plastics and other contaminants aside.
