Since we are on the subject of Maple products :Yar:, if any of you guys know of some smaller family farms that sell online, let me know. Out here in the West it is hard to get good, fresh maple stuffs, and my wife is a huge maple fiend. I try to get her the best stuff I can for little gifts, especially around Christmas, so any input would be greatly appreciated. Oh, and by the way, I hope that I can participate in this year's Secret Santa. I am a huge Christmas nut. As always, you all are great!

Is he in canada? You can probably fit 3 quarts in a flat rate box for like $16 if he's in america.

Edit just looked. He is in New Mexico. Shouldn't be over $18 to ship. Remember flat rate boxes. Plastic container would be best but with foam you could probably make it so they won't shift and be protected.

It's flat rate. Same price to NM to me in SC or to Fairbanks Alaska.

Sap didn't run at all around here this year, I had to buy, I used this place, small operation family owned, free shipping over $45 order in USPS flat rate, the prices are good too. I ordered on Sunday and had it on Tuesday, but I'm a bit closer to them than you.

X2 on clems post. I think there is an $8 smaller one too for a couple small bottles/flasks.

Flat rate has no weight caps, "whatever fits ships"

Well technically it does but unless your shipping solid blocks of steel or lead or uranium or some other heavy metal you won't hit the weight limit. I believe it's 70 pounds..?

I believe the small box is now $7.95 like you said. It's the small box that's about the size of a VHS tape. Any young millineals out the that's what you use to put in your VCR or what we use to have to tape shows on before the Netflix or DVR  .

There also is a flat rate envelope that's about $8 or 12 that you can ship stuff in.

On the topic of Craft Maple Syrup Shawn Curry sent me a bottle earlier this year for helping him out with some guide bars, and stuff. I hide it behind the store bought stuff, so my kids leave it alone.

Yep, if it fits, it ships.

My local P.O. is always surprised that I can get 5.5-7lbs in a small flat rate box. 3/8 and 404 chain loops pack really well. Ya' can't beat $6.80 on a small flat rate from Utah to Upstate New York.

Trying to catch up on this thread and my head is still spinning... o_O jon1212 , I'm glad you enjoy my syrup, but why did you bring this up after so long? Are you our new secret substitute Santa? :)

Sorry to reference a sore subject, but I suspect whomever the 'forgetful' Santa was, made off with a handmade walnut + maple cutting board made from locally grown WNY hardwoods from my yard.:headbang::heidi:

Gasifier, if you are still without a gift I would like to send you something. I made this offer to PB months ago when I realized what was happening. Apparently your gift ended up the same place as mine.

One thing I've learned later in life.......if you want to make a difference, no matter WHAT the circumstances, don't ask, just do it!
That kind of selflessness has been displayed here time and again, and I've been on the receiving end myself
And when a "need" has been recognized, sometimes a PM is in order, and other times.......seek it out.
You are a good soul Shawn Curry
    :)

Not sure why your head is "still spinning" Shawn Curry? Is the Walnut from that mammoth tree that you needed the 50" Cannon bar I sold you?

Gasifier will be fine, trust me.

It is from that tree - which originally belonged to my great grandparents. The maple was from a tree that grew on my property. I milled the lumber myself, and dried it, and planed and jointed and glued and shaped it.

I had nearly forgotten about this. It was a very special gift. My mom and sister were in tears over them. :tears: I had a bit of blood and sweat invested as well.

It's a real sore subject for me too. If you wanna fire up the lunch mob I'll lead the way. :salute:

    Thanks Eric. :)

On a lighter note, speaking of mammoth walnut trees...

So someone absconded with stuff you made from those trees? That totally blows.

Nice video. Are you on stilts? Because I heard you're a midget.

The person who I sent my secret Santa cutting board to, and who has since vanished, I have long believed to be the same who stiffed Gasy. I sent correspondence to PB to this effect but I was very upset at the time and we don't talk very much now.

When you dug this thread back up, I wondered if maybe you were a forgetful Santa all this time but I found that hard to believe. I still think all my original suspicions are correct. You're a good feller jon1212
